1. Everybody has a different list of favorite U2 songs, but I'm wondering how many of the U2 songs from the new album would be on a list of all-tme best U2 songs. Perhaps this is a question we can't answer for a while, but just for the sake of argument, here's my list of "classics" as of, well, yesterday. In no particular order:

    I Will Follow (Boy)
11 O Clock Tick Tock (Single)
    Gloria (October)
    Tomorrow (October)
    Sunday Bloody Sunday (War)
    New Year's Day (War)
    40 (War)
    Pride (Unforgettable Fire)
    Bad (Unforgettable Fire)
Where The Streets Have No Name (Joshua Tree)
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (Joshua Tree)
With or Without You (Joshua Tree)
Running To Stand Still (Joshua Tree)
    One Tree Hill (Joshua Tree)
    Silver and Gold (JT B-Side)
Wave of Sorrow (Birdland) (JT Outtake)
    Desire (Rattle and Hum)
All I Want Is You (Rattle and Hum)
    Zoo Station (Achtung Baby)
    The Fly (Achtung Baby)
    One (Achtung Baby)
    Mysterious Ways (Achtung Baby)
Until The End of the World (Achtung Baby)
    Lemon (Zooropa)
    Stay (Zooropa)
    Please (Pop)
    Gone (Pop)
    Wake Up, Dead Man (Pop)
Beautiful Day (All That You Can't Leave Behind)
Stuck In A Moment (All That You Can't Leave Behind)
Walk On (All That You Can't Leave Behind)
Kite (All That You Can't Leave Behind)
In A Little While (All That You Can't Leave Behind)
Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb)
City of Blinding LIghts (How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb)
    Mercy (HTDAAB Outtake)
    Window In The Skies (Single)
Magnificent (No Line On The Horizon)
Moment of Surrender (No Line On The Horizon)
Unknown Caller (No Line On The Horizon)
Stand Up Comedy (No Line On The Horizon)
Breathe (No Line On The Horizon)
Cedars of Lebanon (No Line On The Horizon)

What is the point of this list? In terms of "classic" U2 songs, it's seems to me the strongest albums are Joshua Tree, No Line on the Horizon, Achtung Baby and All That You Can't Leave Behind -- in that order.

    What do y'all think?
  2. skip Stand Up and ad FEZ- Being Born... a treu classic allready IMO
  3. Am I the only one who cringes when they hear lemmon? Is there something wong with me? Anyway good list. I would add maybe one or two more from POP. (Gone, Staring at the Sun)
  4. Yeah, I'll go ahead and add Gone, and I forgot Wake Up, Dead Man (most underrated U2 song, IMO). Staring At The Sun has never done much for me.
  5. I Will Follow (Boy)
    Sunday Bloody Sunday (War)
    New Year's Day (War)
    40 (War)
    Pride (Unforgettable Fire)
    Bad (Unforgettable Fire)
Where The Streets Have No Name (Joshua Tree)
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (Joshua Tree)
With or Without You (Joshua Tree)
Running To Stand Still (Joshua Tree)
    One Tree Hill (Joshua Tree)
    Desire (Rattle and Hum)
All I Want Is You (Rattle and Hum)
    Zoo Station (Achtung Baby)
    One (Achtung Baby)
    Mysterious Ways (Achtung Baby)
    Stay (Zooropa)
    Please (Pop)
Beautiful Day (All That You Can't Leave Behind)
Stuck In A Moment (All That You Can't Leave Behind)
Walk On (All That You Can't Leave Behind)

Those are the one's I agree on. The rest are good, but not as classic. The "classicness" of nloth is yet to be determined until singles and the album is released.
  6. Gwiz: a plausible list. But none from HTDAAB? Wow.

  7. WUDM is a better one..Good call as is Silver n Gold.. great song
  8. Too tired to make a list, but Being Born and Moment of Surrender are classics. Might add Magnificent too.
  9. Not a bad list at all. Classics from HTDAAB: Vertigo, City Of Blinding Lights, Yahweh. Possible: Crumbs, Original Of The Species.

And please add The Hands That Built America. It's an epic.
