Yep, that's the part I was referring to when I mentioned Larry not being able to take their part.

OH, so that's why the accents sound weird on some of the vocals compared to the Beach Clip.

Why didn't they just use Bono double tracked? or Edge + Bono even. the more monotone sounding it is the better, for Unknown Caller, which is a chant song.

And how are they going to play all the keyboards/synth live? Bono going to play some, or will they have someone offstage doing it?

Keyboards could be Terry Lawless again on or under stage, synths probably pre-recorded.

On another note: I assume, NLOTH is the starting point of the main character (traffic cop) - rue du Marais = Le Marais (4ème in Paris), then Being Born (ferry from Cadiz to Morocco) would be the end.
What about the last 3 tracks...?

Who's Terry Lawless, his name sounds like a keyboardist. Is he an artist in his own right?

What about the last 3 tracks?
They just put them in cause they liked them.
It's not a concept album remember, Bono said so in that Observer article.

  4. He's the band's keyboard technician and programmer. A roadie. Started working with U2 in 2001 I think. Since 2006 he's also involved in the studio work.
You might know him from the Vertigo Tour where he played the keyboards for Original of the Species on Stage (check Milan DVD)
  5. Hi Guys,
Im going out on a limb here, and willl get crucifed by the faithful as a result ,but after all the excitment of the album , and a very very long listen , i can say this is prehaps the worst album u2 have made in years. We are all jumping up and down and excited becuase it's U2 , but actually when it's all said and done this is a pretty lame effort for 5 years in the making. The songs simply dont really gel with me, they are slow at times , mixed terribly and havn't got that kick about them like the other albums. The lyrics are shocking at times, i can only dream as to what the album would have been like if they had of went with that other producer.Eno is what you by for a upset stomach here in Australia , and his mixing of this cd is particulary bad , makes me upset.Look this album will be considered in years to come as the DUD of u2 , Please just go back to rock and roll , ditch eno and get some balls and go out on a limp and make a record that will stand up as your best.It was really funny , but i was so excited, thought it was brillliant at the start but after the excitement has died down i realised what it was - a mixed up piece of work that really sounds like an out of control train that yes your right at the end ends in a train wreck.U2 or no U2 this is a shocker

To each their own but this sounds a bit exaggerated. You don't agree it's better than ATYCLB and HTDAAB for an example?

I'm tired of anybody ripping of ATYCLB and HTDAAB.
Seems a bit exaggerated indeed... no good points in the album at all?
    Oh and I hate HTDAAB.

Indeed..the worst with October. Therefore I'm glad with NLOTH although it's not their best. Was afraid to lose faith in the band but they restored it.
  9. I believe this is one of their best. At least as good as Zooropa or ATYCLB. Only time will tell if this one is as good as AB. I don't hate the whole HTDAAB by the way. COBL, Vertigo, Yahweh and sometimes Original and Crumbs are great. But the earlier versions of ABOY, Sometimes and Xanax were much much better than the final product. Something went wrong during the process of that album. October is their least, but not that bad if you consider what the circumstances were. The band was under pressure and Bono lost that suitcase full of new ideas for songs.

And it is at this point where I butt in and point out that I think October is one of their better works, and that it should be War being given the cold shoulder!

    The beauty of opinion...

    War???

Harry, I'm about to loose faith in you!

  12. Never been keen on it I'm afraid mate - I thought people knew that by now!?! I have a thing for October, it's one of the few albums that I took to straight from the off.

Glad to bump into you around here though Casper, wanted to point people in the direction of your latest work which I genuinely think is genius lol!
