    This is a terrible piece of work , nothing short of a dud. Yeah you and the other 7 million followers of Bono will buy as part of devotion, when are fans going to break out and say this is shit.
    And if i get attacked for my views well at least im not un original !!!!!!
    Please look at the album from a OBJECTIVE view point, this is the the thead to talk about your disapointment , well i am .Totally crap , AND DONT THINK im not the only one who thinks that , it's not being receieved very well by many.U2 have to be down a couple of mill, becase to give it 5 stars thats a lot of money to give to Rolling Stone.Coldplay's album shits on this at least thats got feel , like i wanna listen to a guy talking to a phone >????
    And believe ehat you may but i have loved u2 FOR 20 YEARS , BUT THEY HAVE TOTALLY TOTALLY fucked up this time.
    Berlin was a disaster because no coherence, no real go by BONO and actually he sounded terrible, all over the place.Oh sorry i can't say anything bout he messiah can i ?????

    Dude, you are just on a rant, which is fine every now and then lol. . We never said that he walks on water either. I have looked at it from an critical view, and I have found no faults, and I am a person who has an unusually high standard for music.

    I love Coldplay, and I love Viva la Vida. However, they are two different albums. And shouldn't be put side-by-side that way. This album really can't be compared to much, and that is magnificent.

    You are aware that we are only two months into 2009, right? The album is definitely good enough to win awards, and magazine covers and whatever publicity stuff you can think of. The fact that they were invited to three award shows already just to play the first single should tell you something too lol. You shouldn't be judging an album on the number of awards it gets, or by who thinks that it's good anyway.

    And, supporters of the album are not following anybody, or saying that they love it strictly because they love U2. We are smart and mature enough to have our own opinions. Hell, I'm 14!

    On the topic of Bono's voice........ Why don't you post a cover of the song singing it better than Bono?

    And yes, you definitely have freedom of speech. We appreciate you choosing our forum to voice your opinion. However, were you seriously expecting us to not to give you a rebuttal lol? We are allowed to voice our opinions too, and we will. We are.

  7. NLOTH is different than the past two albums (ATYCLB and HTDAAB) for a number of reasons, but the most obvious is the lack of Bono's writing about his father/death and their troubled relationship (SYCMIOYO, KITE, etc..) .

    It seems as though he is moving on from those experiences and writing more about "world/culture" events.

    No disappointment from this end.... Boots is the new Vertigo, Magnificent our Beautiful Day while Moment of Surrender may be our Walk On.

    Great tunes! Looking forward to hearing them live.

I dont think i could ever be disapointed with any u2 album, but at first listen i did not fall in love with the songs the same way i loved the songs on the joshua tree and rattle and hum when i first heard them, except for one song - moment of surrender, i got goosebumps hearing it the same way i still get goosebumps everytime i hear with or without you.

    U2 will definitley lose a lot of the casual fans, maybe in the same way they did when Actung Baby came out. YES when AB came out there were many people saying "oh my god what have they done", and now look how that album is regarded now. I definitley had to listen to AB many times before i really felt comfortable and familure with it when it came out, and again it was maybe the zootv experience that really cemented just how good it really was.

    I have only listened to NLOTH 2 times and it does sound quite promising, after a couple of months i am sure it will sit very well with U2's previous albums. I think though GOYB's is a pretty good tune but it doesn't sit quite right with the rest of the songs. This has TUF feeling about it and that was quite a departure from the earlier 3 albums.

    overall not disapointed but i think it has many layers to peel back with each listen.

  11. I partially agree with Austy, too many people here are bowled over by anything with a new U2 sticker over it.

    I mean the album is good with interesting songs, but too many them have flaws and issues with their execution. I mean look at VLV, even though the songs may not have the pedigree of a U2 song, their execution leaves nothing to be desired for. And I'm not a big fan of Coldplay either.

    When I listen to VLV, I don't sit there going, why does he have to include another string of 'ohhhs' here, why did they include that part. etc.

    The good songs on the JT and AB, and indeed much of their pre 2000s work never had this problem.


  12. You can criticise all you want. Some of us have made a hobby of it recently and have found the new album to be an exhilarating breath of fresh air. But rants in the infantile, poorly structured, bad taste, dare I say it offensive way you have posted so far are inappropriate.

    You say you've loved U2 for 20 years. I don't believe it, there's too much vitriol in what you say. Have they done something to personally offend you? If so, I'm sorry, but we don't need to be burdened with it. If not, then lighten up and post something constructive.

    I will not be flag poled as being someone who just says I love something because it has U2 on it. I was disappointed with WITS and was very ready to fall out of love with U2 on this album. But I find a great deal to love in it, so I'm very pleased. So is nearly everyone on here. There are flaws, of course. 2 songs will no doubt become skippable in the future. But that doesn't mean we can't celebrate what many view as a return to form and others view as a continuation of good form.

    So, as I said last night. Sort yourself out and start posting constructively and you'll be welcome here. Don't bother and you can leave our site as we don't want you here.
