1. I love how diverse all the lists are. here's what I thought initially:

    1. No Line On The Horizon
    2. Moment of Surrender
    3. Magnificent
    4.Unknown Caller
    5. Fez
    6.White as Snow
    7.Get on your boots
    8. crazy
    9. Breathe
    10.Cedars
    11.Standup

upon further listening, here's my revised list; this one is much much tougher to put together, as I like them all more now.

1.Moment of Surrender (brilliant vocal harmonies in the chorus, I can't get them out of my head....)

2.No Line on the Horizon (such a great buildup song, I love how the chorus is like a release of the verse's tension, a nice melodic break/contrast; very Achtung Baby, reminds me most of zoo station or the fly)

3.White as snow (took me a second listen to get into, but since I've been hooked; it's haunting, really, and would be incredibly powerful live. another one that keeps playing in my head)

4.magnificent (magnificent as everyone has pointed out...I can picture them using this as a show opener, with that bass drum and distorted guitar part, would be an amazing intro vamp)

5.Fez (took me a couple of listens to get into, but now I love it; I didn't have the patience the first time, but if you just listen to it and let it envelop you it's really powerful and driving; parts of it remind me of both zooropa and the unforgettable fire, which is really high praise)

    6. Breathe (I'm still not sure about the verse of this one, but the chorus is so big and uplifting that I love it)

    7. Unknown Caller ( great song, very hard not to put it higher on the list, but the others are also really good too; another typical u2-ish melody on the oh-ohs, which I love, and the chanting chorus is really good too)

8.Boot (first time I heard the single, I really didn't like it, and was disappointed. upon having heard it probably about 20 or more times, I really like this song; there's so many layers, the rhythm really grooves, the chorus is really powerful with the vocal harmonies, and the pace of the song is really energetic. I used to dislike the "sexy boots" refrain, but now I sing along)

9..cedars (I've been resorting this list as I've been making these comments and listening again, and having just heard this song again I had to move it up a slot. at first I didn't like the vocal style, but now I think it really works as an ominous/haunting final song; vocals remind me of "if you wear that velvet dress", which was another slow-burning song for me which I now love.

10.Crazy (first time I heard this, I thought it sounded too generic and didn't stand out to me, but I like the chorus, and now the entire song seems good to me; but not at the same level as a lot of the cd; if it were a different singer I wouldn't like it, but bono gives it a more admiral quality.

11.standup (this one seems like a good song, and I will probably understand it more when I see it live, but at this point I'm not sure how I feel about u2 writing a song in this genre....this one will require repeated listenings to get used to the sound of this bluesy/funky a song coming out of u2. I'm sure in a month I'll be used to it.)

There's so much to this album, it's amazing.... I think it's definitely a stronger album overal than either of their last two, as there are no tracks at this point that I would consider skippable. The track order is really well thought out, and the album never loses my attention. One of their best, which I'm really really happy to be able to say
  2. Regarding people's lists, I'm really suprised and intrigued by the disparity in placements on these lists of Breathe. I know for me it's my favorite song on the album, but ive seen it anywhere from 1st, 6th to last on people's lists. Just something that i find interesting
  3. 1. Fez-Being Born
    2. Magnificent
    3. Moment of Surrender
    4. NLOTH
    5. Cedars of Lebanon
    6. White As Snow
    7. Crazy
    8. Stand Up
    9. Unknown Caller
    10. Get On Your Boots
    11. Breathe

This is based on 5 listens.

    First 3 are interchangeable really

    Ditto second set of three.

I suspect Breathe will go up, but it's not got me yet. Good chorus and ending though. Same for Unknown Caller but there I love the verses and ending but not the chorus.

It's likely SUC and Crazy may drop slightly. Not sure they have such staying power. Will gladly be proved wrong though.
  4. 1. Magnificent
    2. Unknown Caller
    3. Breathe
    4. I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight
    5. Fez - Being Born
    6. Get On Your Boots
    7. No Line On The Horizon
    8. Moment Of Surrender
    9. Stand Up Comedy
    10. White As Snow
    11. Cedars Of Lebanon

I probably get banned for this ranking & will be considered as a spy or something

    2 things to add
=> Sorry but i REALLY don't get why Moment Of Surrender is SO special...?
=> Same thing with Being Born : It's a good song but why does everyone thinks it's brilliance and innovative...?

Just explain to me cause i'm worried i'm becoming a lunatic

Opinionn dude. No more than that. For me, the 2 songs you can't get just blow me away. On the other hand, I can't get why you have Magnificent on top of your list. It's just standard U2 to my ears. With this album I needed something different and the 2 songs from the album that I rate best just happen to be that change that I craved.

All opinion, no rights no wrongs

. . . but Fez and Moment of Surrender are better than anything else on there. . .

Ok maybe i need to say why i don't like that 2 songs, to explain my opinion

    - Moment of Surrender :

Sounds like a fine, mellow tune
But it's sooo obvious it's from 1 take, doesn't sound like a SONG yet (to me).
If they worked on it a little longer i'd probably think it's a great one

    - Being Born : Doesn't have enough of musical variation on the background to me
    Vocals are great though
  7. 1. Magnificent
    2. Moment of Surrender
    3. NLOTH
    4. Unknown Caller
    5. FEZ -being born
    6. Get on your boots
    7. Stand Up Comedy
    8. I'll go crazy
    9. Breathe
    10. White as Snow
    11. Cedars

  11. I really like all of these songs to much to even do numbers anymore, so we'll move to tiers in alphabetical order

    Tier One:
    Breathe
    Magnificent
    Moment of Surrender
    Unknown Caller
