- Magnificent would be a great one, the song what they'll play over the PA could lead into the cool intro of this song. Magnificent itself is not a hard rocker or something like that, so it could be compared to WTSHNN and COBL: melodic, but energetic enough to open. A very likely contender
- GOYB: a lot like Vertigo, a rocker which starts straight out of the PA music. I wouldn't really like this as an opener, because like Vertigo, it doesn't have an actual intro incorporated in the song itself, so it would be more like: get on the stage and just start playing. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, for example Out of Control and 11 O'Clock worked as great openers in the '80s, but those days are over. U2 are very likely gonna play stadium gigs only with a lot of show elements during their concerts, and that kind of a show definitely needs a long PA intro with an opener that segues well out of that intro, like Pop Muzik - Mofo or the several intros of Zoo TV leading into Zoo Station.
- NLOTH: The atmospheric start could be well used for a PA intro. And a album opener is of course nearly always a candidate to open the show. I'd rate this one a likely contender.
In my opinion these are the most likely ones, and they'll probably just stick to one of them, but I hope they'll surprise us and use more than one opener. Last tour was great with COBL and Love and Peace or Else, which is a very underrated opener, with the its extended intro. Such a shame they gave it up so early. Vertigo was the only downer as an opener for me. Anyway, it would be nice to have some more unusual openers like these:
- Being Born: I would like it, it sounds atmospheric enough to have a good PA intro before it, and also thematically it could be very nice.
- Breathe: especially if it will be a single, it would be a nice fast-paced way to open the concert.
- Stand Up Comedy: I don't really like this song, but it's probably gonna rock live with its awesome riff. I guess it all depends on what kind of a theme the tour will have, if any. But I think this one's too political, especially after the last tour. It could have been a great opener on the Vertigo Tour t
though (if only it was written by then
