1. Are there gonna be any Blu-Ray video bootlegs this year, if anyone knows? Imagine that stage in full high-def and 5.1.

iPod can play the following video formats:

    H.264
File formats: .m4v, .mp4, and .mov
Video: Up to 768 kbits/sec, 320 x 240, 30 frames per second (fps), Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3.
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 kbits/sec, 48 Khz, and stereo audio.

    MPEG-4
File formats: .m4v, .mp4, and .mov
    Video: Up to 2.5 Mbits/sec, 480 x 480, 30 fps, Simple Profile.
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 kbits/sec, 48 Khz, stereo audio.

All iPods can play those formats including the iPhone, touch and classics and all before it.

As long as it has .mp4 on the end, then that should be good to go. Try not to encode at any higher than 320x480 so you don't go wasting battery with 64 - 96Kbps MP3 or AAC audio. The lesser the codec (MP4 is better than H.264 in many regards), the better battery usage you get from one charge.

I use something called Rockpod, but I can't find that anywhere.
  2. Advice please, I'm taking my cousin to Wembley and although he likes the band he has only heard the big hits (Vertigo, Stuck in a moment, beatiful day etc), so i need to show him what a U2 gig will be like and familiarize him with some of the songs and gigs from the tour. Heres the problem, I was going to show him the DVDs but since they are at Uni with me and i'm fly back on sunday I only have enough room for 2. So my question, which one.
I was think chicago, due to it being the most recent tour and having the big hits on it, but what about the other one, or even if chicago is a good choice at all? look forward to your suggestions
  3. Show him Slane for the sheer spectacle of it all.
  4. show him Under A Blood Red Sky for real U2 show, or even better US Festival '83

  5. yeah, i was thinking Slane, either that or Boston, though Bostons crap

yeah, there great shows but not a real resemblance to the U2 he will see, i want him to get to know the songs aswell, and also realize the importance of the lead into streets, good suggestion though

    Cheers guys
  6. Too early to start talking about rumors of the 360tour's live DVDs? Anyone hearing anything?

ZooTv Sydney for the Streets intro
and if you wanna show him something from the Vertigo tour I'd advise Sao Paulo or Buenos Aires cos Chicago is pretty shit show in my opinion but thats just what I think.

    Depends on your goal.

If you want to prepare him for the U2 he will see, either Chicago or Milan is required.

U2starters tend to hate on Chicago, but it has killer versions of Mysterious Ways, An Cat Dubh / Into The Heart, AMAZING Beautiful Day (only topped by Slane), and obviously Vertigo & COBL.

If you're looking to maximize the chances of "making him a fan," my recommended recipe is:

    Slane, and...

    Rattle & Hum.

But NOT ALL of R&H at once.

    Specifically:
    1. Streets
    2. Sunday Bloody Sunday - into - Pride
    3. WOWY
    4. Exit
    5. In God's Country.

You have to remember, he's not a U2start forum diehard. He's a newbie. They think differently than we do.

Slane is more than enough post-2000 U2 for a newbie, and it's a good place to start.

I hate to anger the followers of the Gospel of ZooTV, but...

Rattle & Hum provides such a shocking contrast to Slane that newbies tend to be VERY impressed.

Slane + ZooTV isn't as shocking / impressive, in my fairly vast experience & experimentation of U2 evangelisation.

He really needs to see & hear some of that pure rock, late-80s glory as well.

ZooTV & AB will pack a much fiercer punch once he already "really" likes U2. AB requires the listener to commit for the full hour, and most new fans just don't bother.

    ...my opinion anyway. Good luck!

Great Points but dont forget a great cry/electric co!
  10. If they release a DVD (and they will)..I hope they will pick a gig from the last leg in 2010, somewhere in Europe. Just to have a good performance. And I hope the copy-and-paste-department won't ruin it..

Don't start about mr. Hamilton now

    Yep agree
It will be the first leg tough
I personally hope for Zagreb or Poland, but it'll probably be Croke Park I think

Oh, I don't really care if it is something like the Boston DVD. I hope for a 2009 DVD (early show like Amsterdam ), and some of the last gigs in 2010.
