1. Put the tracks from No Line On The Horizon into the 'older' U2-albums, where they fit the best.

No Line On The Horizon: Boy
    Magnificent: Pop
    Moment Of Surrender: Achtung Baby
Unknown Caller: tend to All That You Can't Leave Behind
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight: All That You Can't Leave Behind
    Get On Your Boots: Pop
Stand Up Comedy: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
    Fez - Being Born: Zooropa
White As Snow: The Joshua Tree
    Breathe: tend to Unforgettable Fire
Cedars Of Lebanon: The Unforgettable Fire
  2. I don't think this can really be done.
NLOTH has its own unique style unlike any album before it.
Whereas this could be done easily for Bomb and All That You Can't Leave.... and Achtung and Zooropa (these albums are interchangeable IMO) you just can't do this with NLOTH.

There is not one 'old' album that leaps out at me when I listen to any of the new songs. Except maybe White As Snow (Bomb) and Crazy (All That You Can't Leave...).
  3. Nice one

NLOTH: October (In a positive way )
Magnificent: Pop (just for the trance-flow over it)
Moment Of Surrender: Rattle And Hum (soul, jazzy )
Unknown Caller: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (even tough I can't compare it with any songs actually)
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight: ATYCLB
    Get On Your Boots: Pop/Zooropa
    Stand Up Comedy: HTDAAB
    Fez/Being Born: AB
White As Snow: War or JT
    Breathe: definitely Boy
    Cedars Of Lebanon: TUF
  4. No way. Uknown Caller is better than any song on ATYCLB, and the style is much darker and deep...

  5. In that case it's not 'matchable'.
  6. Yeah, this might be tough and a bit of a stretch, but I'll give it a try:

No Line On The Horizon: October
    Magnificent: The Unforgettable Fire
    Moment Of Surrender: Achtung Baby
Unknown Caller: All That You Can't Leave Behind
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight: All That You Can't Leave Behind
    Get On Your Boots: Pop
Stand Up Comedy: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
    Fez - Being Born: Zooropa
    White As Snow: Boy
    Breathe: War
Cedars Of Lebanon: The Joshua Tree

  7. No Line On The Horizon: Achtung Baby
Magnificent: How to dismantle an atomic bomb
Moment Of Surrender: How to dismantle an atomic bomb
Unknown Caller: All That You Can't Leave Behind
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight: All That You Can't Leave Behind
Get On Your Boots: How to dismantle an atomic bomb
Stand Up Comedy: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
    Fez - Being Born: Zooropa
White As Snow: How to dismantle an atomic bomb
Breathe: How to dismantle an atomic bomb
    Cedars Of Lebanon: Boy

    +1
  9. For me most songs occupy "in- between" positions. This concerns songwriting as well as sound. To me this proves that the new album is something that hasn't quite been there before.

No Line On The Horizon: Achtung Baby / Zooropa
Magnificent: How to dismantle an atomic Bomb / Zooropa
Moment Of Surrender: Achtung Baby / How to dismantle an atomic Bomb
Unknown Caller: Achtung Baby / All that you can't leave behind
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight: Rattle and Hum / All that you can't leave behind
Get On Your Boots: Pop / How to dismantle an atomic Bomb
Stand Up Comedy: All that you can't leave behind / How to dismantle an atomic Bomb
Fez - Being Born: Zooropa / Pop
White As Snow: October / Joshua Tree
Breathe: Boy / How to dismantle an atomic Bomb
Cedars Of Lebanon: October / All that you can't leave behind

    ...something like this...

  10. No Line On The Horizon: Achtung Baby
    Magnificent: The Unforgettable Fire
    Moment Of Surrender: Joshua Tree
Unknown Caller: tend to All That You Can't Leave Behind
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight: All That You Can't Leave Behind
Get On Your Boots: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
Stand Up Comedy: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
    Fez - Being Born: Zooropa
White As Snow: The Joshua Tree
    Breathe: War
    Cedars Of Lebanon: Boy
  11. Unknown Caller sounds more like a Achtung Baby track, the lyrics, the guitar solo (reminiscent of Acrobat/LIB etc) Though it has its own distinctive vibe.

Breathe is very much a HTDAAB stadium rock track with a twist. Stand Up Comedy also wouldn't be out of place there, Crazy Tonight is somewhere between HTDAAB and ATYCLB.

Magnificent screams The Unforgettable Fire. NLOTH's vocal performance and breathless pace is reminiscent of Boy.

GOYB could be from Pop and White as Snow from either JT or R&H.

MoS, Being Born and Cedars of Lebanon are harder to place as they are either quite different or combine sounds from multiple albums.
  12. No Line On The Horizon: War
    Magnificent: The Unforgettable Fire
Moment Of Surrender: The Joshua Tree
    Unknown Caller: Achtung Baby
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight: All That You Can't Leave Behind
    Get On Your Boots: Pop
Stand Up Comedy: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
Fez - Being Born: Rattle and Hum
White As Snow: All That You Can't Leave Behind
    Breathe: War
    Cedars Of Lebanon: Zooropa
Winter: All That You Can't Leave Behind

    Definatly these!!
