Bomb is good, just not great. No Line IS great, but it's not as poppish as Bomb, so, it's less successful
I love CFYT, am I the only one?

    Yeah... I don't lol

And yes, you're the only one who likes CFYT

  2. Actually the only album which I like every song on is AB. So the fact that I 'mostly like' HTDAAB is pretty good.

And funnily enough, in terms of songs I actually like more of HTDAAB than the JT.

I like the some of the lyrics in Crumbs, but I don't like the way its put together, it's cheesier than fondue. Makes me cringe when I listen to it.

    Cool
Glad to see there are more people who like HTDAAB

But I believe we're getting slightly OT here
    So charts...

Lol, we have a " why does everyone hate HTDAAB/ATYCLB?" topic anyway

Back on topic, from my earlier post:

Apparently NLOTH isn't doing that well in the charts, it's sales momentum has dropped off quite rapidly, is it doing worse than Bomb?

  6. Yes, I think it is doing worse
  7. Oh dear, it's slipped to #24 in the UK now. That second single can't arrive soon enough.

  8. Magnificent should send it right back to the top
  9. Looking at how fast the sales drop in UK, i doubt it will stay long in UK top 40.
Amazingly, King of Leon's Only By the night is still at top3 despite of the economic crisis.

All I know is that in my opinion this album is brilliant and definitely alot better than Bomb and ATYCLB yet they are probably bigger sellers than NLOTH. Album sales are not an indication of how good the album is, so people should not be concerned about what chart position it's at. I am pretty sure Bomb has sold more than Achtung Baby (correct me if i am wrong) and Bomb does not even compare to AB. It seems that on this album the band have thought more about the music and the theme of the album rather than being concerned about what position it is in the charts after a month of being on sale. This is a proper album with a definite theme and sound and I am not concerned what the casual fan thinks who believes Beautiful Day is the best song they have ever written Just my opinion. Feel free to agree or disagree with my comments, but just thought I would get my feelings of my chest.

As much as I love Get On Your Boots, it was a terrible choice of a first single. It's a bit too polarizing. And that's probably one of the reasons it's not as successful on the charts: No good single (Magnificent could prove me wrong though). And what Casper said about the release date is true too, if they had released it when they had originally planned, things may be different.

Yes, GOYB didn't do so well as a single..let's hope Magnificent will do better. Like I said in an earlier post, the latter is getting a lot of airplay on the radio. GOYB should be doing better than it did, though. A lot of people think that it was a somewhat awkward track, but I like it and it's still one of my favorites of the album.

And yes, HTDAAB was very radio-friendly...no argument from me here.

  12. here too, the commercial side of the album bothers me not one jot - for me, the important thing is the album itself as a piece of music and I think it's terrific. With every listen it gets better for me, and I don't listen to it every day so I think that says something. It's not perfect but in my book nothing is, and damn if it isn't the best thing I've heard for a good few years lol. Admittedly, I'm not PM and they might not be too pleased by the apparent lowkey nature of the album's commercial success but a) I think U2 have made a shitload of money already in their career and b) in an idealistic world, one would like to think that they're more appreciative of the album in a musical sense than merely as a piece of commerce alone.
