It was recorded for the BBC 'In Concert' radio series.
  4. 1985-3-27 listed as 4 should be a 3 IMO
    1993-8-12 listed as 5 should be a 3
    1992-6-11 listed as 5 should be a 3/4
    1997-5-6 listed as 5 should be a 2

These shows might be availabe as listed at other places, but here they are rated too high....

My version of 1985-3-27 is definitely worth 4 stars, so I'll leave that one as it is. Really clear recording.
1993-8-12 is a soundboard, and soundboards are 5 stars, regardless of the quality (will change on the new U2start).
Same for 1992-6-11, though this show absolutely sounds superb. Maybe you have another version. One of the best Zoo recordings.
    Same goes for 1997-5-6.

    Thanks anyway! Appreciate it.
  6. Remy you should remove the 'excellent' when your listing soundboards. Can be mis-leading. Just list them as soundboards

I'll leave it as it is now, the new U2start will be ready in just a couple of weeks now. Then it's all better.

I downloaded the ones from here. could you upload a song from the 1985-3-27 show that you have so I can compare? the one I just downloaded is not very good.....
1993-8-12, 1992-6-11, 1997-5-6 an this website are not sound boards. I just got done down loading them. listening to the boots of these shows on here reminds me of one of my audio classes my freshman year in college. We had to listen to certain recordings and guess where source and the mic were placed - how far apart, which side, etc........

was the 2001-12-2 Miami show updated to a soundboard? I want to get a better recording of that show but I downloaded it and found the same audience recording I already had....

About the Miami show, as far as I know it's not. I also have the audience version, but I have the soundboard somewhere on DVD, maybe I can make an audio-rip if no one else has it.

The other shows should be the same as the ones I have, my collection is a 99% mirror of the U2start collection. The ones mentioned are definitely soundboards. The Montreal one has a little hiss sound but sounds very clear, the song Bad is really good on that recording.

The Wembley one is also a soundboard, but not a very good one. The Stockholm one is even broadcasted on television, it's absolutely a soundboard. You can check that on achtungbootlegs.com too, where you can find all the sources of the bootlegs (or at least, most of them). We also count radio/TV broadcasts and IEM recordings as soundboard, this will change on the new U2start. Then the rating system will be different.

    Update. Stockholm:

And you may be right about the Eugene show, weird. Our ratings need a lot of modifications on the new U2start, check back to this topic in a week or 3 and we all sort it out

About the Stockholm show, there are TWO widely available sources.
One is a EXCELLENT AUDIENCE (sometimes I've seen it listed as a Soundboard) and the other one is a VERY GOOD SOUNDBOARD. And there are THREE proshot versions, one is in sephia colour, which has the SBD sound; the other one is full colour & SBD and the third one is full colour with a excellent mix of Audience and Soundboard, made by Achtungpop.

The most known audio version (which is probably the uploaded here) is the Excellent Audience, so check it out...
  11. dont want to make myself look like a jerk, but....
1993-8-12 and 1985-3-27 are definately not sound boards. From what I learned in the class I previously mentioned, on these recordings there is no mic within 10ft of the drums. On Wembley, I'd say that the record was made in front of Edge. I'm re-listening to the stockholm show and it sounds like the ex. audience version.....On the montreal show, bono's voice is clear, but echoes...the band sounds like crap - I cant even listen to it.

Just to add as food for thought when you make the update to the new U2start.com.......IEM's, ALD's, and FM broadcasts all get there sound feed from the same place - the soundboard. Maybe you could have a rating for different kinds of soundboard recordings in stead of listing them as completely separate?

If you could do a DVD rip of the 2001-12-2 Miami show that would be awesome!!!

It's very difficult for me to determine which is technically a soundboard and which isn't, we should really sort that out.

And I have a question about that, since you're kind of an expert. There is a new option on the new website, which is "type recording", it now can have these values:
    - Audience
    - Soundboard
    - IEM
    - TV/Radio broadcast

Do you have a better suggestion for this list? Maybe remove the soundboard and add ALD? (what is it?)

I'll see what I can do on the Miami show, I'll make it a personal todo item for later this week.
