    Honestly and humbly, I think Edge is wrong on this one. You can have U2 played to people over and over, and some just will not connect to it.

  8. Music is subjective. You can't make someone like something that doesn't catch them. Just as you yourself may not like something---like Country or rap....

    No matter how often I hear Rap, current pop or country---I still don't like it and no one can make me....

    I just like what I like.

    Not everyone likes the same things
    Although, people can change their opinions. I used to hate rap entirely, but now I'm more open to it, just takes time.
  10. There's always been criticism to U2's work. Some people say they're the most overrated band in music history and there are musicians who said: "what they do musically, I can do with one hand in my pocket" (referring to Edge's guitar playing.)

    If they're the most overrated band in music history, then why do they have so many fans all over the world? They've been around for some 30 years now, so that should tell them something.
    Taste may vary, but it's BS to say they're overrated or limited musicians.
    U2 never never made a record twice; they always go for new sounds and whether they use rock, blues, folk, dance, trance, industry or whatever influences...it ALWAYS sounds like U2.
    Everyone recognizes a U2-track the second it's on the radio. No matter what era it's from.
    Why did they earn 22 Grammy's, or sold over a 100 million albums? Because they're overrated? Don't think so.

    And Edge's guitar playing is a distictive part of their sound and maybe one of the best guitar players around. Maybe not solo wise, but rhythm wise.
    Larry Mullen? The best drummer I know....listen to his drumming on Streets.....

    Speaking of an overrated "rock" star; then I'd choose Madonna.

    Wouldn't count Madonna as a rockstar btw, but that's not important

    I think their limitations (Edge - solo wise, for instance) are also their strengths. Because Edge is not good in pulling of insane 5 minute guitarsolo's, the rest of the band has to work even harder to keep it interesting. Bono has to write good, catchy lyrics to make up for less interesting guitar work. Adam and Larry are top of the world of course, that's not even in doubt.
    But they all had to work harder to get somewhere than other bands, because of their lack on musical talent. Adam teached himself to bass, Bono wasn't even a singer when he started, Edge played on a selfmade guitar and Larry had very little experience. So they had to improve themselves and that's what makes them one of the best bands out there
  12. I don't care about a bands ability to play. Thats why I fuckin love the Stooges They just have something amazing about them.
