1. It seems all infections outside Mexico are non-lethal.

  2. I hear a child in the USA has died of the infection, but at such a young age normal flu could be a major problem aswell

Exacctly. And I think the poor quid reacted badly with the vaccine.
  4. im not leaving my house
  5. What a load of overblown nonsense. It's no different to an outbreak of 'normal' flu. Of the numbers in Mexico dead, only 1 in 3 are confirmed as having died directly due to the virus.
Give it a fancy name and watch the press spread it all out of proportion. And Ger makes a good point about malaria too.

Exactly, Why should we get worked up? Hundreds of people get killed on the roads every year; thousands of people around the world die from 'ordinary' colds and flu - how many different strains of cold and flu exist around the world? I'd hate to think. Should I develop a cold/flu, who's to say it's the same one as someone else has? Argh, just irritates me.
  7. Apparently 11 "confirmed" cases here in NZ, Media are having a field day, its ridiculous and blowing it all out of proportion. In the Paper this morning said 159 people dead in Mexico. When last night, they weren't sure and heard there was only 7. So Who knows?
  8. I still really hope U2 come here though. I missed their last tour and was too young for anything before that
  9. Here in El Paso all athletic events have been canceled/suspened until May 11!

This affects me directly because we have our Orchestra Compition scheduled for May 13.
That will probaly be canceled/suspended as well!!

It is very interesting that we live here in El Paso, which is right on the border of Texas and Mexico, and have not reported any known case(s) of the virus. We are anticipating this thing to blow up here, but that it just hasn't happened yet. With the School Districts now involved they will take drastic measures to make sure this thing is contained. There are students that are from or live in Mexico and come to school here in El Paso. So here, we have to take this thing seriously!!

On a side note, my brother has already begun working on the Movie Title:
SWINE FLLLUUUU!! Coming to a theater near you....

    Be Safe!!

I hope that your town stays safe! GOOD LUCK with the Orchestra competition man!!! (I just got home from one)

Regarding the flu, I'm just glad that it isn't eating up the world population or something. Hopefully, it will not become as deadly as what the media is comparing it to. (And great add about Malaria a couple of pages back, Gerard)

What else are the 24 hour news networks going to talk about? It's the nature of the beast, as I previously said, there's not much that can be done, everything is going to be okay, I think

Hey Thanks!!! That's cool, what do you play??!!
Yeah we've been working hard for this so I hope we can perform!

We'll see as the days go by what is in store for us. With technology and medicine, I'm thinking we're going to be allright!
