1. They played UTEOTW at Vertigo too (only a few times, but still). Prefer the Elevation tour versions.

  2. My wish for Chicago

    No Line
    Magnificent
    Beautiful day
    Breathe
    Moment of Surrender
    Kite
Until the End of the World
    Crazy Tonight
    Stand Up
    SBS
    White as Snow(acoustic)
    Bad
    Streets
    With or Without You
    One
    Encore
    CIty of Blinding Lights
    Vertigo
    Get on Your Boots
    Mysterious Ways
    All I want is You
    Cedars of Leb.

This is realistic and part hope.
  3. Which SBS do you want them to do? I think the Sarajevo version would be more appropriate here...and I think you've got GOYB coming too late in the set...it's an anchor show of the tour (first US show), they'll have it first or second...

One of their best live songs in my opinion - I think it's a bit far to say it couldn't be associated with the Vertigo tour, but I get your drift. It got really squeezed down over the last tour, Edge's guitar lacked any bite - bring it back Elevation style and it should go down a storm. I'd love it anyway lol.

The PopMart versions are still my favourite, but I can't see them revisiting that format. Given the stage setup for this one, what would the rest of the band be doing? It's not like Edge and Bono can walk out onto the B-Stage and Bono can saunter off for a costume change, there's just this one great big leviathan construction where they're all standing under lol.

An accoustic&intimate rendition of one of their famous songs, surrounded by a gigantic stage and 100'000 people? I can't see it ...
  7. That's true...I was just saying that the PopMart version was closer musically to the current repertoire than the War album version. That being said, do you think they'll do it at all? I mean, I've heard a lot of people say here that its time has passed, along with the time for Bullet the Blue Sky...but it is one of their most famous songs...top 6, definitely (SBS, Pride, One, Streets, Beautiful Day, Vertigo)...so will they really skip it, you think?

Also, any thoughts on what songs could be the "Into The Heart/An Cat Dubh" of this tour?
  8. Considering the slding down sales of NLOTH album and their singles, they have to choose their setlist carefully.

Frankly speaking, I start getting bored of the same old songs they are playing for Elevation and Vertigo.

From their last tour, Pride, One, Sunday, New Year's Day,Bullet, Streets have become less inspiring.

My advice is if they are not going to drop these songs, make sure they gonna do new versions of them.

As for songs like I Will Follow, Until the end of the world, there is no point doing anymore. Don't we get Until the end of the world at the 3rd song of evey elevation shows? And they sound the same, nothing has changed to the song.

I would like to see them play Please, Staring At The Sun but in different arrangement.

If they are not gonna choose their songs and play them differently, we will get bored of them.
  9. Well, I don't think it'll ever be possible to do a better version of Streets than they did at Slane Castle for the DVD back in 2001...
  10. There's a good snippet of an interview up on the front page of http://www.atu2.com/ right now...The Edge says that "Luminous Times" (or something like it) would be fun to play live...they'll play about half the album (so that's probably 6 or 7 songs, right?)..."certain songs from the last couple of tours, we may not play again"...Edge could sing lead on a song (Numb?)...

So my question from Edge saying that they may even play B-sides they've never played before is...will they finally cave and play Acrobat? I know it's not a B-side...but could it happen? What about Mercy? I would *love* life if they played Mercy on this tour...

So, if I had to guess what they'll play from NLOTH...I'll pick 7 from the new album just to be safe...they're going to play the ones they've already done live...so "Breathe", "Get On Your Boots", "Crazy Tonight", "Magnificent"...I'd guess that they're going to do "No Line on the Horizon" (since it is the title track and all) and "Stand Up Comedy" as well...and hopefully we'll get to hear "Moment of Surrender"...

I think I'm going to go rework my playlist on what songs we might hear now...

(Also, apparently a new record called "Songs of Ascent" is in the works for later this year/earlier next year? Is there a thread for that yet?)
  11. Interesting news from @u2.com

    Maybe they'll finally play Acrobat

NEW @U2 EDGE: 'LUMINOUS TIMES' WOULD BE 'FUN'

Please sit down before reading. Kthx. By now, it's possibly the No. 1 question on every U2 fan's mind: What songs will U2 play on tour this year? Edge shares some possible answers in the new issue of Rolling Stone (with Green Day on the cover). Here's a snippet shared with us by @U2 Forum member, "The Exile."

RS: "What will the set lists be like?"

Edge: "We're talking about resurrecting songs we haven't played in a long time. I have a list of every U2 song -- some I can't remember anymore -- even some of the B-sides that we've never played live. We were thinking how much fun it would be to play something like 'Luminous Times.' Certain songs from the last couple of tours, we may not play again. We want to find songs that feel fresh and valid."

RS: "How are the new songs shaping up live?"

Edge: "We'll play about half the album, and having played some in TV appearances, we know these songs translate well live. There's a few that will be up there with our best-ever live songs. Some of them we really have to rework -- 'Crazy Tonight' was a very keyboard oriented song on the album, but I took it to the guitar live, and it sounds great...."

Edge also says he "wouldn't rule out" singing lead on a song, and when Rolling Stone suggests "Numb," Edge promises to add it to the list of possibilities

  12. Id love to see Moment of Surrender followed by Stay acoustically. Acrobat I think is everyones hope to hear live, we can only pray I guess.
