That's the point I refered on some post. A sounboard sound makes us see with other eyes...
  2. Actually I think that whole DC show is one of the worst Outside Broadcast shows. The band is really sloppy and don't have a lot of energy in my opinion. I really dig the setlist however. It's the only time they played Bad and Sunday Bloody Sunday the same show on the Zoo TV tour. The sound quality is really good though.

I'm a great admirer of the DC show and to me it's the setlist, the great soundboard and all those great, short moments, details and things which make it so good. It's not the tightest, strongest or most polished performance but I love it anyway. And regarding WOWY that night, I consider it rather weak vocal-wise but as mentioned before, the soundboard, Edge's solo and the Shine like stars-verse makes up for it. It's a good version but i prefer Rosemont, Dublin the 30th 1989 and Zoo TV Sydney. All three very strong vocal-wise if you ask me.
  4. Although I think the DC show isn't as good as a lot of the other Outside Broadcast shows, I still think it's a pretty good show. Even the worst Zoo TV shows are better than a lot of shows from other tours. I think the band was at their absolute prime then and that tour was amazing. I'm probably biased because that was the tour when I saw them for the first time
  5. I go for DC, Rattle & Hum or Sydney myself but there is a bit on one version that's on an official DVD where Bono changes the inflection of some of the words (I can't live....) that I've always liked. Can't bring to mind which DVD it is though - I think Elevation but not sure if Boston or Slane - anyone help??

I think you are talking about the Boston DVD. I listen to that version of WOWY fairly often. He changes the way he sings "I can't Live....." near the end or middle (after he has walked away from the girl) to sound like a cry of desperation. Top stuff
  8. Thanks for everyones suggestions. That strangers in the night version, and the numerous versions with love will tear us apart are all out of this world.

I like the fact they do snippets, they sound better than the originals even though its all done to the tune of u2 songs.

That's the one - cheers for that. Must rip it to the computer.....
  10. I missed this topic so I don't know what you talked about in the previous posts. Anyway I just want to say that my favourite version ever of WOWY is that of Tempe 1987-12-19. It's also the first live song of U2 I got, time ago, but then I didn't know anything about U2 live.

That's probably my favorite too. But I also like the Live From Milan version, and the ZooTV live from Sydney
    version.
  12. Vancouver 1992-04-23 is very good.
I wonder, why prefer Washington RFK WOWY over this one, as they are similar in general, but this one got better vocals, cool snippet in the end, some rhythm guitar effects during verses, audience noise and generally improvising mood? (for ex, check 2nd verse). A very good version.
