Coldplay is a softrockband.(is more for the ladies)
And U2 will always be a rockband.
    Different kind of music.
Under a Blood Red Sky is with a lot more passion then leftrichtleftright.

They have a partially shared fanbase. Nothing wrong with liking Coldplay or comparing them imho.
  2. I know what I'm talking about, because I've seen Coldplay 2 times live, compared to U2 17 times. U2 is much more a rockband than Colplay. I miss rocksongs such as Pride or NYD, Will Follow or Beautiful Day for example by Coldplay.

You are right of course but it is a fact that many U2 fans like Coldplay and the other way around. Me not so much though. Chris Martin has a bigger ego than bono, never thought that was possible lol

    You're not the only one.

I'm downloading the album right now - I haven't heard Coldplay live before, ever, so this will be a nice intro.

Didn't see this anywhere, but it makes for interesting reading.

Leftrightleftrightleft is a track expected to included on Coldplay's fourth album.

    Background to LP4

In July 2007 Coldplay revealed that the album seemed to be shaping up with Hispanic influences after having recorded in churches and other areas in Latin America and Spain, such as Barcelona. On their website, the band also described taking acoustic guitars and basic recording equipment to churches and experimenting with particular sounds. However, in the same note, it was stressed that the influence was not in any specific sound but a general feel to the songs taken as a whole.

On September 5, 2007, Coldplay revealed the track names of the new record on their website. It will be a short record (approx. 42 minutes) with approximately 9 songs, which will be chosen out of the following:

    Lost!
    Cemeteries Of London
    Violet Hill
    Poppy Fields
    42
    Yes!
    Leftrightleftrightleft
    Rainy Day

Four other songs were written at various places throughout the list, but they were entirely blacked out, either indicating that they had been taken out of consideration, or the titles were not meant to be known. One of these blacked out names may be the name of the fourth album, as previous tracks have been for Parachutes, A Rush Of Blood To The Head and X&Y.

EDIT: Yes I have - on the Fix You single. Pour Me live from the Hollywood Bowl.
  5. They're a nice band, both in studio and live... A little "softer" than U2 (less rock and roll, more piano ballads, etc).
I particullary enjoy the tons of audience-singalongs on their concerts... I love it
  6. Great album!!!
I really love Coldplay, IMHO: excellent album!!! great audio.... and the best part of the album is that it's for FREE!!!
U2 should really think about doing something like it...
that really draws the fans attention, and as a Coldplay fan (still U2 is above all don't worry) I'm very thankful for such a gift from Coldplay....

    cheers mates!!!
  7. Anyone else disappointed with the audio-quality of this beautiful stuff? I downloaded from the official Coldplay-site but I'm not impressed with the quality and mastering. Add a bit more bass to How We See The World and it beats LRLRL.

I got a physical copy of the cd handed out to everyone who exited following the concert here in Buffalo and i haven't had any complaints about the audio quality. Does seem to be a little better than the download to me...i could be imagining that though

It seems like they should have invested in a method to distribute lossless recordings. I think coldplay fans are so mainstream they don't care about quality though
I was dissapointed by the bitrate, but they sound good otherwise to me.

I told you that one month ago!!

It's a great version indeed, and one of the best audiences I ever had the pleasure to listen. Awesome
  12. Might not be the place for it, but with regards to live albums I have never understood why U2 don't release each concert in FLAC / MP3 like Pearl Jam do. Takes away the quality problems associated with a lot of the boots. Pearl Jam allow fans to trade them once commercial sales have stopped.

U2 must be one of the most heavily traded bands out there and yet they haven't jumped on the bandwagon. I even got a couple of complete Levellers tours on CD, and if they could do it then surely U2 could Also, didn't Linkin Park give away a live copy of the concert which you went to via a download on thier last tour?

    Anyway, just a lunchtime thought

P.S. Do like Coldplay if in the mood for a mellow listen (like when fighting traffic on the way to work
