White As Snow finally tops someone's list! No prizes for guessing the only song not to top anyone's list.

    8. Fez/Being Born [would be higher but for Fez]

    11. Get On Your Boots

    1. Breathe (no change here, amazing song, I seriously think it's one of the best they've ever done)
    2. No Line On The Horizon (favourite version is the live one from the Culture Show recordings but I still think it's a great song, apart from the 'tongue in ear' line lol)
    3. Unknown Caller (grown on me so much, solo is brilliant)
    4. Moment Of Surrender (great song, not much more to say)
    5. Being Born (I'm just gonna ignore Fez 'cause it's not a song lol... - it's new and different, and the vocals blend together so well)
    6. Magnificent (sweeping, grandiose, epic - not much else though. Wish the solo had been a bit more big)
    7. White As Snow (great little number, very dark - love these sort of adaptations)
    8. Get On Your Boots (funky, fast-paced, not much else to say. Lot of elements that I do like, but on the whole it's nothing more to me than a decent rock piece with bizarre lyrics)
    9. Cedars Of Lebanon (really dark and moody)
    10. I'll Go Crazy If... (I shouldn't really like it, but I do lol. The separate elements don't really do anything for me, but for some reason when they're thrown together I can't help but like it)
    11. Stand-Up Comedy (it's ok, nothing more - bit bland at times)

I like the album a lot, but I just think the middle section (I'll Go Crazy If..., Get On Your Boots and Stand-Up Comedy - I'll also throw Fez into the mix aswell; Being Born would have so much better without that random minute or two of jargon) just don't fit it all - to my mind, it would have been even better had they ditched them and found 3 other songs that fitted what I feel to be the motif and sonic aesthetic of the album. Fortunately however, those 3 middle tracks are offset by what I think are a great opening section and a fantastic closing quartet.

The more I listen, the more I like. Cracking album.

Completely agree with every word. I enjoy all three songs as they stand on their own, but not in the context of the album. Boots to me seems to come the closest to fit in with the rest of the tracks, but it's still a pretty rough transition between all three parts of the album as a whole. Still can't wait to see them live though.
  5. 1 - No Line
2 - Get on Your Boots
    3 - Stand Up Comedy
    4 - Breathe
    5 - Crazy Tonight
    6 - Magnificent
    7 - Unknown Caller
    8 - Fez - Being Born
    9 - Moment of Surrender
    10 - White as Snow
    11- Cedars of Lebanon

In my list, the album would go in a kind of progression, from the most upbeat and/or the most pop tunes in the first part to the most downbeat / introspective ones to the second part. Well, kind of.

The album has grown on me a lot and from 2 to 10, it's very difficult to put them in a right order. This album is coming close to a masterpiece, but it still hasn't reached that far.
