    I think any discussion on best and worst song should stick to album tracks, cos b-sides, remixes and rarities just open up a pandora's box of choices. And the band may never have intended people to take such tracks seriously.

    It only clicked with me last year after 15 years of trying. I used to dismiss it too. Got into a very heated debate about it with my brother-in-law once actually.

Lanois and Lillywhite (more so I'd think) and Eno (not so much) would have loved it because it had 'something', even though it's straight-up, in-your-face rock.

    So when someone asks one of the band members to play Mercy on the tour, they have, knowingly to themselves, but unbeknown to the person.

    Lemon is one of their all time great, lyrics, singing, atmosphere, Edge's cascading guitar it has everything. If you find the album version too long, listen to the single edit, if you find the studio versions too dull listen to their scintillating Sydney 93 performance.

    I got it on my 5th listen, but my friend absolutely hated it and i pestered him to keep listening to it until he got it. It took him two weeks but he now likes the song.



    And why does everyone hate Magnificent so much? It may be overrated, but their worst song ever? that's harsh.
    I thought something from one of their early albums would take the wooden spoon.
