Yep, heard those, brilliant gigs indeed
But that doesn prove a thing, does it?
    Vertigo Saitama is brilliant too.
Elevation had a couple of awesome gigs.
And PopMart Santiago was awesome...had quite some politics in it
    Same for PopMart Sarajevo..
Lovetown shows were quite political, and some of those were brilliant (Point Depot, Rotterdam)

So I dont think their music gets affected by it..

TIP: Listen to Sunday Bloody Sunday on 2001-07-31, Arnhem. 10 minutes, pure politics, but you'll love it

Saitama was good but a shit and boring 8 odd minute speech can drive a show to a massive hault. Sarajevo was a one off and Bono didnt chuck out thw same speech night after night as hed did do on that last tour. I have no problem with politically charged shows as long as its in the form of music. All these shitty pauses so Bono can talk crap is just soooo shit for me. Excitement dropped a notch. I might get some sleep tonight with this speech. How the hell can a scripted (and rehearsed) speech be motivational or inspirational?

I dont mind a bit of a message being peppered over tours or at special gigs but the whole SBS act thing and the billl of human rights pissed me off on the last tour. Same when i saw U23D - on the whole it was great but the bono speech in SBS (i think) ruined for me! and i reckon it will be the same with this desmond tutu speech! i know tutu is a great man but i dont need to be reminded of that at every show i go to on this tour!

all i'm saying is there were no particular segments as a permanent part of the set on tours like ZOOtv and PopMart (apart from the brief sarajevo link ups which were dropped pretty much for the reason i'm pointing out now!)

and i liked that and U2 still managed to be U2 without these permanent political segments in the set

Okay, agree to disagree then I guess
    To both of you

  3. That's a bit harsh, two of their greatest songs, especially SBS although somewhat historical now.Obviously been played a thousand times already but still great to hear live.

  4. thats my favourite ever version of WOWY!

but thats got nothing to do with the point i was making! - WOWY was only played in that arrangement on the final leg of ZOOTV when UV had been replaced with Lemon. when it was played after UV (on the rest of the tour) it was still pretty much the original arrangement of the song!

Oh, I will surely sing along when hear them live, but...it's repetitive. Please, they can do much better.

  6. It was great on the Sydney dvd. Something different.
  7. I can't believe they cut out Elevation.

with you all the way on this mate! i will always love U2 more than any other band but if i don't like something they do i will still criticise the hell out of them!

thats why i got sick of the U2 interference forum pretty damn quick - you can't say a bad word about U2 on there without getting lynched!

  9. Replace the tutu speech with a Michael Jackson one.
