Off the record: I'm hooked to that 'new U2-song' which is played as intro and outro on that U2360-trailer.

    I like it as well.

  2. Certainly would lol, but I doubt it'll ever happen...prove me wrong Bono!

I'm sure the setlist and the show itself will go through many changes by the time we reach the end

Definitely, and even if not we can't be sure because we don't know. Another thing is that the band has evolved since the times of ZooTV etc., they've grown up into different men and y'know, something people might forget, the band want to enjoy the music they play on stage and perhaps that passes attention at times - the reason some songs stay in the setlist so long is because they enjoy playing them show after show, but they do change it around and give the new material chance to take its place alongside the golden oldies. More importantly, complaining about the setlist after one show? Deary me lol!
  3. I don't know, if you look at their previous tours, their set lists stay pretty much the same through the whole tour, often having about 3-4 songs they switch out when they play a single city multiple times. Seems Drowning Man, Sometimes You Can't Make It and maybe (pretty please) If God Will Send His Angels are going to be the switch-out songs.

I bet Drowning Man will be switching off & on with The Unforgettable Fire
Sometimes will be switching with City of Blinding
and If God Will Send (or acoustic Mysterious Ways) will switch out Angel of Harlem

and that's pretty much going to be the tour. Just a guess. But I, for one, was hoping for more Zooropa, Pop, just surprises. Go down the setlist and for the most part it's "new song" / to be expected...except for Ultraviolet and The Unforgettable Fire.

Now what would make me jump out of my seat is suddenly seeing songs like
    - Dirty Day
    - Love Rescue Me or Heartland
    - Shadows and Tall Trees
    - Mofo

    THAT would be NEW...

  4. Ya, I'm getting slightly sick of people complaining already, which probably isn't a good thing because there's a long way to go...

Not to mention the fact that there are people, like me, who have yet to go to a U2 concert and are going for the first time on this tour. Now, I'd like to see some rarities like everyone else, but I've also never experience streets or pride live, and if they drop in from the setlist then maybe I never will.

Playing something from Zooropa is very difficult. Only Stay, Numb and First Time are suitable for a cracking live performance. And I don't think Drowning Man will switch with TUF, but with In A Little While.

I bet you would have add Ultraviolet and TUF too...but they ARE played so I would be happy with that. Who could imagine they would play Ultraviolet and TUF???

Ah good point - I think you're right on that Drowning Man switching with In A Little While

For all we know, they may well rotate songs in a manner we hadn't seen etc. The next show might give us some clues. ZooTV and PopMart were the most formulaic of the U2 tours I'd say because they really did run song-for-song throughout, whereas stuff like Elevation and Vertigo shows retained a formula of sorts but gave much more scope for variation. It was only really the 2nd leg in Europe that kept the same look for the most part. I agree, it would be nice to see something come out from left field as you say but...

...is what I also think. Some of us, including me, have never had the chance to see them before (or rather, in my case, I wasn't able to get tickets for any UK shows on the last 2 tours) so experiencing the classics live will be just as exhilarating as to bear witness to them bringing something like Lemon off the shelves. U2 are as U2 will be, and they play gigs as they see fit so we're just gonna have to sit it out and see what they do

    EDIT -

Exactly by the looks of it, Ultra Violet might be here to stay with all the props they've put together...

    *sits and prays*

I'm gonna die if they skip it on the gigs in Amsterdam. Especially after tonights performance.

  10. So long as they play it at either Sheffield or Cardiff I'm a happy bunny for life lol. The only thing following that would be to be able to play a cover of it myself live! Me and some Uni. mates are trying to put a band together, wonder if I could convince 'em that we could try and do it justice! That said, I doubt I could sing like that...OFF TOPIC!
  11. ONE video:

dno whether this has been posted before, I lost track
here it seems like adam & edge fucked up rather than bono's earpiece. lol. I don't mind either way, they're only human.
  12. Right, anyway, where was I...

    @U2's Twitter feed has been throwing some cool stuff up;

    The Independent - http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/reviews/first-night-u2-camp-nou-barcelona-1726328.html

Makes a great point regarding the fact that they opened with 4 new tracks, shows a lot of faith in the new material when you consider the fairly mediocre success it met with in chart position and album sales.

    Irish Times - http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2009/0701/1224249839464.html

Early impressions seem fairly positive from the media
