1. I've never been to a U2 show before but I'll be going to two this fall in Chicago. I was wondering what people's general experience is with general admission seating at U2 shows. Do people mosh? Is it really hectic?

I hate moshing and have had some bad experiences recently and I wanna know what I should expect.
  2. in comparison to other concerts I've been to (some popular punk bands among those) I'd say a u2 show is quite 'easy-going'. of course, there's lots of jumping but no harm done in that. it might get quite crowded in the pit/front of the stage, so there's a bit of squeezing, but no rough pushing or any of the like. no worries
  3. Nothing to worry about mate . Its all very tame and good spirited !

Yeah fear not, I wouldn't compare it to something like a Dropkick Murphies or a Korn gig as audiences go - all the passion but none of the fury
  5. I feel pretty uncomfortable in big crowds anyway and avoid it as much as possible. But at a U2 concert even front row I don't have a problem at all. So I'd say go for it.

For big shows in general I usually go inner circle or whatever you call the section for the first 4000 early queuers, there I just stay pretty much last row. Still close to the stage and lots of space & chilling people.
  6. GA was fair and well last night. easy going enough and the only time you had people in your little space was when they were trying to climb over the top of you with their mobile phones.

I was grateful not to be in the inner circle. Front rail on the outside of the walkway had to be the best GA spot on the pitch. Within touching distance of the band for most of it and still able to take in most of the claws magic
  7. Ill be furious if anyone moshes. im not a fan of it at any gig tbh, unless it metal (then thats expected) if moshing ruins the best day of my life ill have to kill someone!

Not if the mosshers, kill you first. hehe.
They can be awfully rough, so they can.
  9. Thanks everyone.

Glad to hear that the audiences tend to be good. I can't wait.
  10. It's more of what we call "The Pogo" rather than moshing, you know, where the whole crowd just bounces up and down since that's all you have room to do. My advice? Wear lots of deodorant and by all means, NO open toed shoes and you'll be fine.

pogo is more like.. jumping into everyone around you as hard as you can instead of only jumping up and down but gladly, at a u2 concert, that's not the case. though the 'no open-toed shoe' advice is still very helpful lol. I recommend that as well.

Hey there friend. I'll be right there with you in Chicago!!! As zooey said "Pogo," which is a really hilarious way to put it. Watch Slane Castle's "Streets" - thats's as much as "moshing" as you'll get- mostly "pogo-ing." Not pushing, but more so landing on someone's foot when jumping
