I should try and get tickets....or I should have tried, should be the correct statement.

I might be going in a minute, so if I'm not back, then you know I've gone to the dark side.

Are there any left? It's pretty cheap to get over to Cardiff at the moment - Swine Flu Specials.

  3. Buggered if I know lol, I'll have a look. Swine Flu Specials ...probably best to move this over to the 360 Tour topic for the sake of keeping things tidy, don't want Dan on our case after all, or Chris for that matter

  6. You know you can only put wallpaper on the lock screen. Not behind the actual icons, unless you jailbreak it.

This is about the only one I know of.

    ok thanks Drew
  8. And I think it's time for that story as promised. Here we go...I actually spoke with Chris (Risto) about this repair business, and I never imagined the service to be this wonderful. It's a little long, so get a cuppa, put your feet up and hear about my service.

It was last year sometime (after getting a half-decent paying job) that I got a Nokia 6121 and unlocked it from Vodafone to Three for $75 on a credit card (I say that because it forms part of the story, as ye shall learn in a moment). Very cool phone, it does everything you could want - well, it doesn't have a bolt-on kitchen sink and kettle, but that's for another topic and another day. A month ago it started going very slow and the camera decided to stop working, naturally. As it does after a year, you know.

So I took it to Nokia. They tell me it's gonna be 72 hours before it's fixed, and ask if I would like a loan phone - how Three managed to repair a motherboard in 20 minutes I'll never know. That sounds good, so they tell me it's going to be a few hundred dollars. What the fuck? I only paid $250 or so for it, so I refuse that flat out. Next day I get an email to tell me it's fixed, and down to town I go.

I wait for about an hour - lucky Seinfeld was on, otherwise I may have lost my patience, sanity, marbles and sense of how bored I was. Then they call me up, and I'm given back the phone - or should I say a new one, and they tell me they've replaced the software. THERE WAS NO SOFTWARE TO REPLACE, YOU TWAT. I ask is it unlocked still? Of course it isn't - I'm told to go to the place of purchase and they will do it instore. Easy enough, eh. So I do.

The people at the Vodafone store tell me they can't, and Nokia are incorrect on their promise, so I need to go home and call them. Then I left, on the way home I check to find my memory card - it ain't there, and I give them a call. They've lost it. Fuck me. All my phone numbers for people I've collected for sending off to telemarketers in India and Bangladesh, I don't have.

This is the real kicker, now. Keeping you in suspense...

I give them a call, and they say they can't. What do you fucking mean? You twat. You real, utter knob twat. Now, I'm told I need to get a waiver fee from any Vodafone store, so I do the next day - easy said, easy done. A form is sent off, and the guy down there tells me he's gonna fax off that form. He does, and a call should come in 72 hours (that fucking standard 72 hours, I will murder it, I swear to God).

It's about four or five days after all the rigmarole and fucking around. The guy at the Vodafone customer service centre tells me it's gonna cost ANOTHER $75 to unlock the phone, even though it is Nokia's cock-up, and it's under my name - Drew Higgins - just because he doesn't have the original IMEI code, even though I can tell him the bankcard number, the exact time and date of unlock, the ORIGINAL IMEI code, which he seems to want to date and all that crap.

Uhhhh...no, I am not paying $75 towards your Indian ransom fund again - you shall get nothing out of me. Then they tell me that it is not the same phone - well, yeah - but I then interrupt with 'It is under my name, and you can re-unlock it', no worries if I can't understand them. No matter after 35 minutes, it ain't gonna happen. For fuck sake. The man is insistent, and I think I ended up muttering under my breath that he was a total cock and just hanging up - I'd had enough.

A week ago, now, the guy at the Vodafone store has not called me back. He can't have swine flu - hell, he can't even call me back. What kind of service and interest is that? I know where he works, and for pissing me around he will do it all for me or refund the phone. It's never been used so far - because I can't, and I'm not paying $2 to get a 'RED SIM' so I can be stuck on their stupid, useless, slow, faulty, unreliable, dumbass network.

Number one, I know it wasn't my phone, even though it says 'Repaired phone' because my memory card slot was damaged and the back was scratched.
  9. interesting story Drew, so you haven't got a phone in use at the moment

whats the best free way to convert my dvds to my ipod touch

  10. Nope. It's kind of freeing yet strange not having the thing go nuts.

About converting DVDs to iPod - I'm just wondering. I don't actually convert DVDs to it so I couldn't tell you - or I have but I've forgotten how. More the movies I put on there are ripped from YouTube using the HQ mode on there from keepvid.com. I'm pretty sure if you use HandBrake for Windows, that might do it.

This seems to work too: Engadget
