  1. For those of you who have not heard the news a true musical innovator passed away August 10th

    Anthony H Wilson was the founder of Manchester based Factory records which gave the world bands such as Joy Division, New Order and the Happy Mondays. He also went on to create the Hacienda nightclub which was at the centre of the late 80's and 90's Madchester Indie scene. His Innovation, Drive and Influence created a huge musical landscape which led to inspire bands including U2, firstly when they were a new band starting out, looking upto some of their heroes Joy Division who's producer Martin Hannett worked on their first single, and then also whilst they we re-inventing themselves at the time of Achtung Baby with the european dance influenced themes of Madchester.
    In more recent times he has been the driving force behind the In The City music festival which gives a platform for bands of all genres to showcase their talents to the industry and media.

    Aside from Music Tony was a real champion for the people of the north and in particluar Manchester a city he held close to his heart.

    Annother true legend has passed and the music world and north of England is a lesser place without him but ultimately a better place for having had him.

  2. Hey, didn't knew about him. Again a big person in music history is not among us anymore It's very sad. Do you know how old he was?

    Rest In Peace, I hope he gets the rest he deserves.
  3. If you have'nt seen it already chek out the film 24hr Party People, which is about the times I've mentioned in the earlier post. The films not wholly true but it does give a great indication of the times that Tony was a part of. A good film as well, well worth a watch.

    He was 57 and will be sadly missed.
