    Some parents I know are letting their 14-year old kids to go see it. Yeah, it's their kids and their choice, but I know my kids wouldn't be.

    How they get in at 14 is another question altogether.

    Video games here are banned for showing gratitious nudity and sex and burgulary and all that sort of stuff, yet movies like Bruno are allowed through.
  2. It just feels like Sacha Baron Cohen is just scraping the last of the barrel that is his formula. Ali G was innovative, Borat was ok, this is just like, hmm. Mark Kermode summed it up for me (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/markkermode/2009/07/bruno_100709.html - hopefully you guys outside the UK can see it). Ok, MK is no Bono fan so don't expect anything flattering when he mentions the final scene (I've not seen it so can't comment) but the very things that made SBC's early work clever, i.e. no one knew who he was so he could do a Paul Kaye/Dennis Pennis act, but his celebrity status has roughened the edge that his previous work had, i.e. you think everyone's actually in on the joke now.
  3. Cohen is an absolute legend.....He will be under-rated in terms of comedy greats because of the type of humour......but I doubt there are many comedians right now that are more popular than him.........Havnt seen Bruno but if its half as good as Borat, then it will be excellent......

    I cant think of any film that I quote more from or hear quotes from than Borat!!! (eg... you will never get this you will never get this...lalalalala.....- I mean that is comedy genius!!!)

    I prefer other kind of humour lol

While it does feel like he is kinda scraping the barrel, I do think that Sacha is a comedic genius, even if people are in on the joke, it's still hilarious I have noticed that I have what some call "A disturbing sense of humor" so maybe people shouldn't listen to me lol

  8. Yeah, that charity scene with Bono having AIDS just got me rolling on the floor. While the whole conversation with those model twins (or whoever they were), just got me smiling from one ear to other, that just came totally out of the blue. Also, Bonos appearance at the end was quite unexpected.
    Overally shockingly hilarious movie, especially the Straight Dave part with that dude in the audience reduced to tears I just couldnt stop laughing.

    M'dear, you want disturbing senses of humour, get yourself to university lol...but yeah, I didn't say SBC wasn't funny, it's more than he's sort of overselling himself? The issues behind the issues, as it were, are what sort of grind me. Maybe I'm overanalysing but like, while it seems to me that he's trying to highlight issues and break taboo, but this new film seems to be defeating itself from what I've seen so far? Like, getting celebrities and public figures into disrepute by bringing them to the forefront and using them as examples, but when they know it's him and they do it anyway, it loses the credibility because like, it's just, I dunno, selling out the ideals? Y'know, getting Bono and whoever else to sing a song about AIDs - you're meant to laugh at them, but it's not as funny and groundbreaking if they're laughing at themselves too? I know what I mean but I'm not sure I've said it properly lol...

    And I understand where you're coming from, the idea that Paula Abdul is in the movie without knowing it is a lot funnier than Bono being in it and knowing he was gonna get made fun of
