I originally had a photo pass for the second gig and a GA-ticket, but that pass was limited to the first three songs and the use of tele was forbidden. So I decided to let the Sony DSLR at home and tried to smuggle a hybrid camera into the venue. A hybrid is a compact with DSLR functions, but the technology is still based on a chip instead of a mirror.
The guy who frisked me never saw the camera (he did see a DSLR carried by a girl five places before me) and after having queued for 5 hours, there was still place in the inner circle, or the FOS, as others call it. I was standing right to the stage, Adam's side and 10 meters to the right of where Matthias (U2Gigs) shot some of his vids (he was standing outside the FOS sometimes).
The following pictures are from yesterday, made with high ISO which results in plenty of noise, especially with compact. I shot 222 photos, took the best and used Photoshop to reduce the noise. Changed some pics to black and white.
My experiences
The gig yesterday was great. The band enjoyed it, was and is in a great shape and nailed the songs. I loved the mixed up setlist, enjoyed Elevation, Until the End of the World and especially Bad (I went nuts). The snippets were great too, especially 'Fool to Cry' and 'Rocking the Casbah'.
Still they need to ditch Tutu..makes Streets dead.
Sound was good too, same as Monday. Downside was the queue. We had to wait until 6:40pm before they opened the gates. It started to rain with thunderstorms around 6:10pm, luckily there were some large sailcloths to keep each other dry. And the heat inside was like a sauna. The security surrounding the inner circle had wet sponges when you asked for it.
Another rather funny downside: I want to see them again...soon. But I have to wait for it.
PS. Ask Remy for more Edge...lol
