  1. lol...Pesto, I'm no fan of CP either (anymore), but to say they commit plagiarism is quite harsh, isnt it?

    After all, dont you think U2 have been called plagiarists of David Bowie, The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Police and whatever band was active back in those days when they were coming up?
    Dont you think Radiohead have been compared to U2 and Depeche Mode in their early days?
    U2, Coldplay and others are just part of a certian music scene, alternative rock...that has nothing to do with plagiarism, but just with being collegues really...

    i admittedly was just home from the pub.

    too be honest, ive been on the radiohead side of this argument for a long time in some of their forum sites, and im quite biased.
    apparently radiohead are too as thom wont even acknowledge cp as of last time i read.
    i do stand by saying that cp have contributed nothing to the scene. both u2 and radiohead, along with every other band in the world, are influenced by someone else, but its my opinion at least the cp have done nothing but follow formulas set out before them. i wish i could find the quote, but martin flat out said something along the lines that they tried to be just like u2

    they don't pretend to, the people on here don't pretend to. they're a good band doing some great music and delivering great shows. some like them others don't.

  9. I saw Coldplay in Toronto on Thursday July 30th, just some thoughts on the show

    Biggest concert i've ever been to in my life, in the same venue i'll see u2 in come September. The crowd was about 45,000 people and were a fairly early arriving group. Elbow was a pretty decent opening act, although i think the sound guy was on break cause my side had way to much bass, and could barely even hear the guitar.

    Coldplay's performance was amazing, they have a kinda special connection with Toronto and it was evident this night, Chris Martin was running around the stage like a madman from the get go. The crowd went nuts on In My Place, Fix You, and Viva La Vida...i've never experienced 45,000 people chanting Viva for 2 minutes after the song was over before. It was amazing. Highlight of the night had to be an amazing cover of Billie Jean which was just very well done, and kinda reminded me of the U2 Zoo Tv b stage performances...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Wqv5qT6RmU

    All in all the concert was amazing on scale and the performance was top notch, but it still really made me just long for the u2 concerts i'll be seeing in a month and a half. I don't know if u2 will be able to grab the Toronto audience like Coldplay did though. Those crazy canadians love them some Coldplay.

    Thanks for the review Brian!!!! Very promising!! I'm seeing them tomorrow!!! My venue will only be around 20,000 people though.
  12. Coldpla best concert ever. Wait till you see U2 in 360 under the claw. I went to a lot of concerts in my life. I've seen U2 in 360 for 3 times now and i'm sure this was the best ever.
    It's as if U2 is getting better an better with the years to come.
    Coldplay is fine but they still have a long way to go(i've seen them live twice). They are on the way, but need still a lot more to grow to beat U2.
    I saw U2 22 years ago in a small venue of 6.500 and they were already absolute magic back then.
    By the way Coldplay is a soft rock band and U2 is a real rockband, so difficult to compare
