  1. Remy, that was one thing we talked about on our way back to the car. This time, they almost completely didn't go to the "back" side of the stage, just where you were sitting. They went there more often in the earlier shows of the tour. Also, the walks along the outer circle are somehow reduced by now.

    However.

    flowerchild and I made it to front row on the outer circle, slightly to the left from the middle. It was a perfect spot, the sound was among the best I have experienced in 7 concerts by now. Clear and loud The view was perfect of course, as front row on the outer circle is

    I noticed the small technical problems here and there, but... it would be boring if U2 just came on stage to play a perfect gig, at least for me. Those little things happening just made it a special night, no ordinary gig - as far as "ordinary" would ever apply for a U2 show, that is

    The crowd was amazing. GA went crazy even before Breathe was over. A few songs later, everyone else, including the seats, were standing and joining the party. That's what I saw from the pitch

    All in all, I had a fantastic night. It was one big hell of a party, and people, just stop seeking for any chance to criticize the setlist. For those who have seen them more than once during this tour by now -- and I'm one of them, mind you -- of course there might be no major surprises every show coming up. But the setlist taken for itself for just that one night is awesome and truly worth for a great great U2 show I loved every single minute of last night's concert, and I had a fantastic time

    It's more like McStripey says: If you just look at the setlist after each gig, it seems boring and predictable, but once you've been there, it's completely the opposite
  4. This was my one and only 360 show and I was blown away. From the first moment I entered GA and got luckily into the pitch I was fascinated.

    Snow Patrol warmed up and then there was U2 on stage. And for me it was amazing to see them from the pitch as it also was the first time for me to see them so close. And I had a fantastic view with a lot of space during the show! You know I am not that tall and GA is sometimes a big problem for small people like me. But this time I had luck! So I rocked the pitch along with a friend!

    The Aung San Suu Kyi part was very emotional for me and brought some tears to my eyes and when you here Bono speaking personally it has more intense than any newspaper report.Also the cell phone part during One looked very emotional. Much better than 2005! This time it looked like thousand of stars around the stage. That was great!

    MoS for me is a good closer. I heard the live version for the first time and it sounds much better than on the album. My opinion! I think that the synth drum-loops, which play in the background of the son, are working better in the live version. They're stronger and fitting better.

    U2 made a great show in Gelsenkirchen. Funny was when he said something like "Come on Ruhrpott!"

    Just some thoughts. Not a full review (as I am not a good review writer).

  7. Weakest gig of the 5 concerts I've seen this tour. A lot of technical glitches (main problem: Edge's wireless didn't work, so he couldn't leave the main stage), lots of wrong notes, major lyric problems (BD, MoS), weak and short setlist and a very strange crowd.
    Everything I liked so far this tour didn't work. We had a typical german crowd that went along to the well known stuff but didn't give a shit most of the time- I think it has something to do with the band, though. They didn't succeed in establishing a connection between the crowd and the band. Bono looked quite tired and just repeated his chorographed stuff, Edge was completeley lost, Adam and Larry just did their thing.
    Sound was a mess even on the floor. Dallas told me that they tried to reconstruct parts of the stage and the PA in the morning to get a better sound - didn't really work out, though.

    Guess they had a bad day. I still have witnessed 3 great and 1 ok performance, so I can live with a weak one.

    doesn't surprise me to read this from you, yeah

    - it wasn't the weakest gig -- but that's always everyone's own view, no harm intended

    - Edge left the main stage several times and walked along the catwalk... maybe you were out then getting some beer?

    - crowd didn't give a shit?! my arse, were have you been when the rest was having a party.

    - no connection between band and audience? crap. audience was right there even before Breathe ended. even a blind and deaf person would have noticed.




  11. it was quite funny. I wonder if Edge has hit any right note... Apart from that, I use songs like Stuck or the Crazy remix to take a break or get a beer. That wasn't possible yesterday, so I just laid my head on the blocker and took a nap.

    A concert experience is always subjective, depends on where you're standing/sitting, how you like the setlist, etc. I don't wanna make your experience/fun smaller at all.

    As for your points, I remember Edge using the Catwalk once during 'Crazy' and maybe during one other song. That's all. Don't think I missed much as I was standing on his side.
    Crowd next to me was totally lame compared to other gigs. They went crazy during the first notes of Breathe, granted. But that enthousiasm ended after the first chorus.
