Hamish isnt that bad on Slane (only the closeups) and Boston, but Chicago is awfull. Not a good show either.

    Zagreb would be cool

He's rubbish, period. Get a bootlegger to do the taping I say.

About Bono on Zoo Station...that's terrible. Gerard originally pointed it out and I couldn't believe it. I'm sure the band don't even see the final results.

    It was?

    Oh...forgive me my mistake

EDIT: Couldnt they find a better version of UTEOTW then?

Have any band ever done a true one-night concert film? Popmart Mexico is two nights. Keep an eye out for a lady with a balloon in the crowd early on. The middle part of Streets at Slane Castle is a dead giveaway too.

Chicago is a completely crap edit with mistakes left right and centre - and Vertigo Milan...I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't part of the 18 Singles set, because that's possibly the worst audio mix to date, and gives me a headache. That said, some editing on my part fixed it up a little to tone down the vocals.

Best film to date? Joshua Tree Paris. It's one night, has more modern yet classic kind of filming and even though it doesn't have Streets, neither does their other best basic one-night film from 1983. Sydney is a little boring in it's direction where it looks like a pay-per-view show (which it was). But I love the audio mix on those three films.

so, the day is here.... any news of people gathering already? queues anywhere?

hoping for some nice setlist surprises tonight

and how many people fit into the stadium, by the way?

Looking forward to Chorzow. The Vertigo show was great. Hoping for something not played yet or ever before.

thanks for ruining every U2 for me ...

  3. I didn't ruin them all - I just pointed out some things about them; if anyone ruined them it was the guy behind the camera, plus did you see a bad mention of Popmart Mexico, Red Rocks, Joshua Tree Paris and ZooTV Sydney plus I don't see a mention of Elevation Boston either. Sometimes it's not the band that do the bad job - in fact, every single performance on those DVDs is something special - however, a director can certainly ruin the experience.

It sure as hell doesn't mean I don't like several performances on Vertigo Chicago or Slane Castle. I just picked up on common mistakes which anybody would surely see as dumb and slack. Even other DVDs and albums from other artists that I really enjoy happen to have crap parts to them which just make me wonder. Would you like me to name some?

Talk to other members and they'll have the same thoughts about the first two Vertigo DVDs as me.

don't be too hard on yourself, mate I notice those mistakes every time I watch the dvds.... but I still love them Slane, Boston, Chicago... all great shows. you can only ruin it for yourself if you want to... live with the mistakes and ignore them while watching... and the joy remains

waiting and hoping for some soundcheck news to come in soon -- would be about time now

Don't let what I said spoil it. Just let it go, and the only thing that matters is that you enjoy them. You don't let the media dictate what you see and hear (though they should all be burnt) and let the newsreaders tell you what's good and what's not, surely? You wouldn't trust a movie, music or theatre critic spoil the show you saw last week? Hey, I'm just a bystander, watching these and saying exactly what I think - and what I said there was nice.

Someone told me one Easter that the Easter Bunny wasn't real and did that spoil my Easter? Nope. Of course that was 15 years ago...I've grown up since then - 1994 was a long time ago. The mistakes of the past will not spoil the dreams of the future, as a wise man once said.

On topic. Any soundcheck news or the band have arrived yet?
  7. I don't care what anybody says: I love the Milan DVD and still think it should have been released as a proper show.

And the Chicago show isn't that bad, it's the audience that's lame.

Concert DVDs are only good if the audience is good and if the atmosphere can be transferred to the screen.

Actually, I don't watch concert DVDs more than once, maybe twice, no matter how good they are, because it's just not the same as being there at the show. Watching them at home just feels stupid to me.

Slane is still my favourite U2 DVD, simply because of the emotion. I don't care much about mistakes and such.

For the current tour, I believe they won't be filming a DVD this year.
  8. somebody want to bump the dvd topic?

  9. I forgot all about the DVD topic.

    the Easter Bunny isn't real?

You're in for a real shock when you discover on Christmas Day, Father Christmas ain't real. Trust me.
