The Irish rock band U2 grossed more than $100 million in the first 13 shows of its 360 Degrees tour, box office totals show.

Billboard.com reported Friday the "With or Without You" rockers grossed $28.8 million of their total during three shows at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, in late July.

The profitable Dublin performances allowed U2 to post the fourth-highest recorded gross for a performance run at a single location.

The U2 performances were narrowly edged out for third by the 1999 Woodstock festival, while the Spice Girls' 2008 performances at London's O2 Arena held second overall with $33.8 million in earnings.

Tops on the single gross concert list was U.S. singer Bruce Springsteen, who raked in $38.6 million at Giants Stadium in New York in 2003.

Billboard.com said Springsteen and U2, along with pop star Madonna, are the only touring musical acts to have exceeded $100 million in overall ticket sales so far in 2009

Bauer Radio Network host biggest-ever live event across 22 UK stations.

The Bauer Radio Network has secured live broadcast rights to one of 2009's biggest music events: U2's 360° Tour.

On Thursday 20th August 2009, Bauer Radio Network's 'U2 360° Tour' will see 22 stations across the UK devote over 5 hours of airtime to the band, including broadcasting two hours of live, uninterrupted coverage of U2's Sheffield Don Valley Stadium gig on air and online. The gig is expected to reach 6.53 million Bauer Radio Network listeners across the UK, and comes off the back of the Network's best ever listening figures released by RAJAR last week. The Bauer Radio Network has market-leading stations in all major UK cities as well as a market-leading national digital radio portfolio.

The dedicated evening of broadcasting will start at 7pm, and will run across Bauer's Big City Network stations and selected digital national stations, including: Key 103, Rock FM, Radio City, Radio Aire, Hallam FM, Viking FM, Metro Radio, TFM, CFM, Cool, Clyde 1, Forth One, Borders, West FM, Tay FM, Northsound, MFR, Wave, Kerrang! (both West Midlands and national), Q and The Hits. The live concert broadcast will be preceded by a pre-recorded interview with the band by Clyde One DJ, Billy Sloan, while INemand DJs Alex & Lucy, and Scotland's Romeo, will report live from the event.

In addition to the live, cross-network event programming, Bauer Radio Network stations will build up to the gig by creating a dedicated 'U2 360° Tour' online microsite, U2 themed programming strands and on-air promotions and competitions. All stations will offer VIP U2 gig tickets for listeners- 30 to the Sheffield gig and 30 to the Glasgow gig on 18th August - as well as special U2 runner up prizes. This will all be underpinned by a dedicated social media campaign, targeting established U2 fans and new listener groups.
