1. was in the seats tonight but planning on an attempt on the pit tomorrow. anyone any info on how early you need to be there?
  2. Just got back. My 6th show on the tour and as I am at home rather than in a hotel room I can get online easily.

Good show, I was on the pitch towards the back most of the time. It was not the best one out of the ones that I have been to,I noticed a really bad echo. This echo was initially when the singer from Elbow spoke between songs and later when Bono spoke and definately during the Tutu speech. I would blame this on the Wembley roof that stretches quite a distance over the pitch.

I enjoyed the set, first time that I have experienced Elevation on this tour and chucking Mysterious Ways in right before the encore was a really exciting wildcard moment.

All in all it was a damn good night and my mate who has been a U2 fan for 20 years without experiencing live before was amazed. Nice to get a pint as cheap as £4 after the european shows.

I obtained a setlist from a friendly steward, fuzzy iphone photo below.

  3. keep the reviews coming
  4. Well, let me just say this - if that was to be the only U2 gig I ever see in my lifetime, it'll do me fine. From where I was on the pitch (front leg, Edge's side) the atmosphere was simply electric, and I'll never forget the sight of 90,000 people all on their feet singing ISHFWILF. Everything about the gig was special for me; I mean, I've listened to hundreds to boots by now but nothing prepared me for the real thing. Having seen Dallas warming up using the SG after Elbow had finished, I didn't figure Mysterious Ways was gonna have a look in but wow, didn't it just - that took me by surprise and some. I'm still mindfucked. The band were on fire and from where I was (like I said) the whole place was on fire, and I couldn't get enough of it. I was seriously worrying about having a hernia by the time UV came around and I think WOWY was a contender for best in recent years - sure, no Shine Like Stars but Bono was visibly moved by the crowd and it was just sheer epicness (I don't care if that's not a real word lol). And oh yeah - STREETS WAS INCREDIBLE. Great little segue from Walk On.

There was a lot of echo but hey, it's Wembley, it's a giant echo-chamber lol. Was digging the Acquiesce snippets too, only now do I find out NG was in the house. Liked The Hours a lot, will have to check them out in more detail (lead singer got a bit drowned out by the guitars and bass, kinda made me think of Muse on speed or something) and Elbow were everything I had hoped they would be. By the by, if anyone caught my Twitter feed I saw someone about 3-4 people ahead of me wearing a "Chris Martin is a w*nker" t-shirt which I a) thought was genius and b) wondered whether it was one of our merry community? White shirt, orange text (I only saw the back).

I can't think of many better ways to pop one's U2 cherry. I seriously can't wait for Sheffield. I'll go through my pics soon and browse through for any good ones, or even perhaps just the whole lot regardless of quality.

    EDIT -

Quite early, I arrived at about half 3 and the queue was damn long, got a spot near one of the Claw's legs though.

  5. Like I remember saying on a BRT review ages ago, 'who needs drugs when we've got U2?'

Also worth pointing out, I thought Bono really had a go at TUF, hitting some sweet falsetto - I've not heard some of the more recent renditions but I think he's getting better show by show. And yeah, I couldn't stop smiling during UV - I remember mentioning before the tour kicked off, I'd die happy if I saw at least one of UV and/or WGRYWH; that's come to pass now lol! It was amazing, every second (although I think 2 bits of toast, a sandwich plus a couple bottles of water wasn't really enough for a whole day standing in the GA screaming my lungs out lol...thank god for those wonderful people selling bottles for a quid a-piece outside the ground afterwards!)
  6. Anyone know during what songs they did a snippet of acquiesce...gigs doesnt have it

  7. I remember it was snippetted twice but I can only definitely recall it during the outro. of Vertigo - I sent a Twitter thingy to u2gigs saying as such. It could have been Streets y'know...but that's not a definite on my part, my recollection's a bit hazey since I've been awake nearly 24 hours and can't even contemplate going to sleep lol.

I got back just after 3am, not bad seeing as I had to go all the way from London to Norwich lol, took about an hour for the buses to start getting out of the industrial estate. Totally agree about ISHWILF, like I said earlier.

By the way, anyone who hasn't caught it on the Beeb...
