1. Indeed. I already thought it was prerecorded but I had hopes it was really live when I saw him playing during that part.... hmm thats a bummer. Always thought it was an incredible live song, but now it's just an incredible song.
  2. Hi Everyone
I seem to remember reading that Charlie Watts of the Stones hanst played the Cow Bell into to Honkey Tonk Women for years, its all backing track. Nowaday the technology is available for bands and U2 arnt the only ones to use it. How much of it is backing as opposed to Terry world (and was it Des Broadberry before) understage I dont know but I rather have Terry on stage and be able to see and hear the Hammond on Unknown and his Unforgettable fire work than have these unexpalined sounds
  3. I have a question in that matter - you know in the beginning of Magnificent there are couple of heavy riffs, and then the slight Streets-like motive. After seeing Chorzow I'm 90% sure that Edge is not playing it, even though he played it during the promo tour. Anyone agree ? I don't know if it's Dallas, or if it's pre-recorded.

    - WOWY - the drum track in the beginning became much too loud during VT, and remain in this way on 360. Why ? I can't see any reason for this.

I'm not an opposite for the backing tracks, but I don't see why the rock band is using it when there is no need for it ( like someone said, you need organs in Streets, but you don't need a drum track in WOWY ).

On the other hand, the backing beat in GOYB's verse is now rarely hearable - the main sound is made by Larry's bongos, and it's a very good idea.

Speaking of Terry Lawless - I was wondering if the organ intro to Moment Of Surrender is played live, or if it is pre-recorded. I'm not wondering anymore, after Terry messed it up in Zagreb II But I still wonder if the organ solo during Unknown Caller is played by him too. Well, let's wait for a first mistake
  4. During Unknown Caller just before the Hammond solo Bono at Wembley 1 and on the Milan Boot calls Terry World Hammond so I would imagine he would play most keyboards during the show. They woudnt pay him just to play on one or two songs
  5. I think Edge might play that firsy big chord in Magnificent but most of it is certainly plaaying over the top of him. Murdered song (was never really alive in the first place)

It's a bit of both - it definitely plays over the top when he starts to play the 3-note arpeggio before the 'riff' kicks in, but he plays it to begin with. Maybe Dallas plays it beneath the stage, although chances are it's just a backing track too.
  7. Dont forget they are many different effect boxes that allow continuous playback of a already played note or chord whilst edge does that next part of the song.

thats what I was suspecting but couldn't quite say. KT Tunstall does that brilliantly on Black Horse and The Cherry Tree

  9. Bloody clever pieces of kit, even moreso when someone masters them - there's a chap on YT who plays a pretty cool cover of WOWY by looping various acoustic/bass/vox parts and playing over the top of them in the same performance.

That's the thing - is he actually playing this arpeggio at all. I remember looking at Edge during this intro, the arpeggio was on the air, but Edge was playing nothing - he was preparing the guitar for the verse. I'm absolutely sure about it. I don't know if he uses some kind of loop machine, or is it pre-recorded, or maybe Dallas. He definitely plays the first two riffs, and maybe two more.

All I can say is, to me it looked like it but you saw what you saw so fair game lol, I'm fairly sure he was though. It's only lightly picking the three higher strings so it would be easy to not notice, but the only way to be sure would be to ask him or stand next to him and watch as they played
