1. Do you reckon that if an old U2 single (Out of Control, Two Hearts or even up to a Pop single such as Mofo) were to all of a sudden reappear in the charts, ideally at a high position, they'd be more inclined to play it live?

Obviously they play Pride, With Or without you, Sunday Bloody sunday etc because they're popular and regarded by casual U2 fans as their best. But more hardened appreciate the more non-mainstream more and would love to hear them live.

So if 11 O'clock Tick Tock was number 1 in the charts next week, do you think they'd consider it?
  2. For sure.
  3. they love a song to chart next week
  4. After the failures of Boots and Magnificent...

  5. ...which is still a riddle to me. Not Boots, but Magnificent.. that one should have topped the charts right there. Anyway, on topic.... yeah, I think if 11 O'Clock would go out there and shoot up the charts, they'd play it live for sure (and make me happy with it )

  6. But Magnificent got stuff all radio play. At least down here. Radio play is the key. If you haven't got that then you're screwed.

I think it's a given that they are dictated by what people like most. Their setlists demonstrate this point. But it doesn't stop them from throwing in rareities. Ultraviolet is a good example. Casuals don't know this track.
  7. No, I don't think.

But I agree, if something were to chart and be a raving success, chances are they'd play it - Ultra Violet single release anyone?

It's great when you look around and people are like "what is this song?" and you're standing there going feckin' nuts

    Oh yes.

And Boots could have been a hit too. The Fly instantly reached nr 1 too remember? Although that was a different time. Magnificent should have been THE hit of this album, because its the most mainstream U2 rubbish thats on this album. Everyone who hears that intro knows its either U2 or Coldplay

It's funny they released 'Exit' as a promo single in 2007 after the Peter R De Vries broadcast about Nathalee Holloway... the song (that was used in the broadcast) became pretty popular...

Get On Your Boots SHOULD have been a hit too. I really think if it was pushed hard enough (like the Vertigo iPod commercial) and featured in places (like Vertigo on CSI) then people would have loved it as much as I do.

Regards to the topic, how about we decide on an older, not so well known song, buy it on iTunes and start requesting it then see what happens?
