    Nice post Harry.

I'd turn it the other way round. That Remix isn't needed. Get rid of that and replace it with a live song.

  2. Whoops how could I've forgotten that one.

    Nice post Harry

  3. Imagine the huge PopMart-like Edge/Bono view in 360 degrees, during the chorus...

And I think that Gone would work well, especially with that insane Edge-solo at the end. Give it a big lightshow ala Until The End Of The World and it's DVD-ready

Most of what has been said so far, has been said about the (nowadays bashed) Vertigo tour, too at this stage. Partly with exactly the same arguments ("who would have thought that song xy ever gets played again"; "unique shows"; "amazing stage and lights").

For the records: I do think that this is their best tour of the decade. Might give a detailed summary later.

Agree and would look forward to that.

Gonna be unoriginal and say Nice post Harry
  5. I think the tour has been a great success so far. I went to the Hampden show and so can't really comment on the other shows (though I did follow each one on this site and via the various videos posted on You Tube). The various bootlegs I've heard have all been impressive enough.

Visually the band always seem to go out of their way to provide a good experience for fans that enhances the musical side of the show, and you almost can't talk about the show without mentioning The Claw. It was a stunning looking set that served itself well once the band were onstage.

The Political side of U2 is always going to show and I don't think there will ever be a show where they are not highlighting some injustice that is going on in the world. I know some people may not like the fact that they give time to these issues but for many in attendance maybe it is the only time they come face to face with these things.

As to the setlists that made up this first leg, well they were pretty consistent with minor changes here and there. The songs from 'No Line' sounded superb in a live setting (though personally I was not that fussed about 'I'll Go Crazy....(Remix)' ). I was happy that 'Unforgettable Fire' was part of the set. 'Pride' and sometimes 'Bad' are often the focus from that album that 'Fire' often gets forgotten (as does 'A Sort of Homecoming').

For the USA leg of the tour I would guess that they would try and maintain what they have done on this leg, tinkering here and there to include songs like New York etc. It would be cool if they could do what Springsteen did on his tour playing requests from the fans. Only problem that would create would be whether The Edge has all the right effects, though they could possibly do some of them acoustic.

I was glad I got to see them on this tour. It's made me go and dig out some of the old stuff again and revel in the fact that they are indeed one of the most superior live acts around today.
  6. Let's hope they don't play New York. U2 hasn't been great when they write songs named after American cities....
  7. I could only make it to one gig this tour and show I opted for Cardiff hoping it would be a good show because it was the last on the tour - and I wasn't dissappointed! It was my 10th U2 show in total (3 Popmarts, 5 Elevations, 1 Vertigo) and it was by far the best.

In terms of the setlist I was so pleased to be able to see TUF and UV which I haven't seen before as well as Stay, which I've also never seen them play. I think the band will always struggle to find the right mix between the 'anthems' for the general public, the new songs and the the more rare ones for the die hard fans, and this problem will only get worse!

If you consider they are more than likely to play Pride (unfortunately in my opinion - never enjoyed it live), WOWY, Streets, SBS, Still Haven't Found, Beautiful Day and One, then in a 22 song setlist they've only got 15 slots left. 7 from the new album leaves 8 slots. It would be great to see these 8 slots constantly rotated, but with Bono struggling to remember the words to songs he plays every night, how is he going to remember the words to those he only sings every 2 weeks!

I would like to see more of a rocker between WOWY and MOS. I always enjoyed Walk On as a finisher in the Elevation tours.

As for the new songs I was completely blown away by Unknown Caller, it's possibly now in my top 3, and I also couldn't imagine how NLOTH and MOS would sound live, but I think they were wonderful. I hope these would be the 3 to stay for furutre shows.

All in all a wonderful tour though.

  8. Oh you cynic J-Man personally I think New York is uber, and wouldn't mind seeing it return but fat chance, quite frankly. Miami is a bit of a Marmite song - I personally kinda like it, but by no means my favourite. Can't say I'd be sad if that never got brought back though lol...

Maybe I'm not a fan because HH ruined it for me on the Boston DVD....(opens a can of worms)

  10. You don't like the black and white epilepsy inducing approach? Shocked.....

European Leg a great success in my opinion. Even the most jaded of my mates are a bit - "ooh, let's see your photos"!!
