1. ^^ Good advice.

I must say that at my show (Cardiff) I was only 3 people back from the rail by the catwalk and I left to go to the loo during the support band, as did my mate. We'd secured a good enough spot by then and got on with the folks around who were fine about it. One lot even left at 8.15 and got back just as Larry walked on at 8.30!! It was a very genial crowd though - not everywhere will be the same.

If you're only going to one gig, go for the catwalk. You'll get plenty close enough to the 4 (not as regularly as the pit, but close enough) and you'll watch the band live, rather than on video, but you can stand back and enjoy the effects fully too. That's the decision I made and I'm sure it was the right one.

If you're going to more shows, then go in the pit at least once.
  2. So glad I came on here to talk to you all.

I guess there's no best spot at 360 - the show is meant to be special for you whether you're right up front, or way up top, and everyone's missing out a little...but I think stationing just outside the catwalk will be a good comprimise, as was said. You'd sort of be missing out on the mass energy of Streets if you were way up close.

I'll probably make up my mind last minute... damn it.

Also, I hope I experiences some of that aforementioned congeniality - I wonder if its different in Chicago than, say, Barcelona or Poland. The notion of being a part of a crowd that big where most everyone is already a sort of friend to one another, is cool. Don't get me wrong; I won't attempt to borrow a 20 off anyone.

  3. Again - thanks for all the tips. It was an absolutely incredible show!
  4. This isn't my first U2 concert ever, but the Boston shows will be my first of this tour, and I was wondering if anyone else got this email. (I would have put this in the U2 tour hits foxboro forum, but it was closed, so forgive me if I'm out of line). I got this email today:
    General Information:

Parking lots open at 3:00 PM
Stadium gates open at 5:00 PM
    Show starts at 7:00 PM
General Admission / Field Seating Ticket Holder Information:

All patrons with field tickets will access the field via the Patriot Place Gate which is conveniently located between the Gillette Stadium ticket office and The Hall at Patriot Place. This is the only gate for field access and no other tickets will be accepted at this location.

Please be advised that there is no early issuance of wristbands prior to the gate opening time of 5:00 PM and all wristbands will be issued upon entrance into the stadium via the Patriot Place Gate. Further, no line will be allowed to form for access to the field / general admission sections prior to the parking lot opening time of 3:00 PM. The line will be opened at this time on a first come first serve basis.

The parking lot opening time of 3:00 PM is defined exclusively by the Town of Foxborough license issued for this event and law enforcement personnel will be on hand to ensure compliance with this restriction by all patrons. We strongly urge all patrons NOT to arrive prior to 3:00 PM on show day as they will be directed to return at 3:00 PM. We thank you in advance for your adherence to this required public safety directive.

To reiterate the event day procedures:

Patrons are to arrive beginning at 3:00 PM when the lots open.
Early arrivers will be turned away and directed to return at 3:00 PM
There will be no lining up for entry to the stadium prior to 3:00 PM on show day.
This line will be formed beginning at the Patriot Place Gate at 3:00 PM
The line will be formed on a first come first served basis starting at 3:00 PM
Patrons will enter the Stadium in an orderly manner and as directed beginning at 5:00 PM. Failure to follow the directions of stadium and U2 staff could result in loss of ticket privileges so please be patient.

this seems really ridiculous, and I'm not sure what to do. I was actually looking forward to waiting in line all day to get a spot. And lines will form regardless of how the event is set up, so this will end up just turning into a bigger mess than ever. It's too bad really...

thoughts? suggestions on waht people might do?

  5. go when you originally planned. if they're serious about it (which I doubt), they'll send you packing until 3pm. Just keep coming back every hour until they let you line up properly.
  6. maybe you should just start a que outside the car park, then move in when that opens at 3:00, hopefully the fans are Sensible enought to avoid scenes similair to Takeshi's Castle
  7. Was going to say: I line will probably start somewhere. Either that or 3000 people will just "wander around" the stadium grounds like a massive game of musical chairs waiting for 3:00 pm to strike.

Man, that's a horrible idea. Imagine the 3:00 pandemoneom of line formation. Here's an idea: lay on an air matt outside the gate and have your friends take pictures of you. When they ask you to move, explain that you're exibiting a piece performance art called "Pavement Guy".

    I lol'd

BTW I suppose they can't make you leave, cause I dont think its a forbidden area to stand there. Its forbidden to get inside without a ticket, not to stand in line...
  9. To the original poster;

I've to 3 gigs on this tour (so far) with GA tickets, all from quite different spots (the pit, a few rows from the main walkway and then towards the middle of the standing crowd so further back)

Three v. different experiences but I'd recommend going for the last one (its the one I'd do again). You don't have to arrive early, it's not too crowded (you can move about, easily reclaim your spot if you for a beer etc.) and you can take in the whole stage while being pretty close to the band.

There is absolutely no need to get as close or arrive as early as some people do.

So mid-section of the GA crowd is my recommendation but the choice is yours - whatever you do its a great experience.
  10. forget the front with the sweaty boys; chill at the back with ladies

  11. Exactly. I've been to two shows, I was closer to the stage on the second one. And I didn't have nearly as much fun. But if you're looking strictly for the view, catwalk is the way to go.
  12. Hi guys

    How have you been?

Instead of creating a new topic, I'll post on this one...

I'm about to go to Paris to see my first U2 concert in Europe, so I'd like to know if you lucky bastards that live there and can go to lots of gigs can give some tip or advise about arriving time, place to stay (got GA ticket), what to do etc...

    Thanks in advance

    Greetings from Brazil

EDIT: I've read the thread, but I still have doubts on the hole thing...
