1. even though i am a massive u2 i think it would have to be matt belamy from muse, just listen to him playing a song called space dementia live and singing too.

just wondering what other people think or if they have any other suggestions
  2. beethoven for the win

  3. Yes Steve!!!!!

The Edge, Chris and Matt are my three most favorite musicians ever. But the best is very hard to choose (for piano). Matt has written the most difficult piano pieces (while singing, which is God-like). However, if we gave those to Edge or Chris, I'm sure that they could handle them no sweat. U2 and Coldplay's music doesn't really require piano parts such as in Butterflies & Hurricanes. Muse on the other hand, it just goes well.

So this topic for bests isn't worth it. Music is all about how it makes you feel, if it makes you feel at all.
  4. Chris Martin, I don't think Matt Bellamy has written anything as memorable as Clocks.

    Thanks Nick!

As regards to your second part, you might get beaten up by some composers from the eras ranging from classical to baroque. Just saying

  6. does the clocks piano not sound a bit like the unforgettable fire piano?

  7. No

And neither of these 3 are the best piano player ever.
Edge's piano skills are quite forgettable methinks. He's a guitarist. Surely NYD is a nice piano thing, but it doesnt seem that hard to play...

Chris Martin is a better piano-player than Edge, but still not that awesome. He's okay, nothing more, nothing less.

Matthew Bellamy is the best piano-player out of these three, and he comes close to a piano-player in a real orchesta. Still, there are better piano players out there.
  8. i dint mean for the title to read that i thought that these 3 were the best piano players out there just wondering out of the 3, who are members of my 3 favourtie bands, which one people thought was the best.

all 3 bands use the piano in bit parts and sometimes the main instrument in songs. all 3 bands use the piano to achieve an emotional effect.

edge's piano peices are quite simple to amazing effect but so is alot of his guitar work. for me it is the way he plays them and the harmony of it with the rest of the band that makes u2 my favourite band.

chris martin is the odd one out out of the 3 cause yes he does play the guitar on some songs but his first instrument is the piano and is just as good as matt belamy to watch live playing and singing (viva la vida tour live when he does the hardest part going into postcards from heaven)

matt bellamy writes some amazingly complicated pieces (space dementia) and really is god like to watch him perform these and sing too. this also goes for his guitar work (plug in baby, stockholme syndrome).
  9. Tie between Chris and Matt for me here.

  10. Yeah, its definitely a ripoff.
Matt easily wins this. Chris can't play a tune for shit, the edge is pretty good though, similar to his guitar playing (crisp, great solos).
  11. Matt's technically the best, although I prefer Chris's tunes, such as Clocks and Trouble.

The Edge comes up with some insane piano riffs, although I don't think he's as good as the other two, bar New Year's Day.

    all imo, of course.
