1. Thanks Andrew. That site is quite informative.
  2. Good site!

U2 Wired for Sound is excellent.

  3. I'd have preferred worn black, worn gold or worn burst finish, too. But this guitar fell into my hand for an incredible price - impossible to say no. Only drawback was I had to rewire it - but that's not such a big problem. So I decided to talk myself into liking the finish.

  4. Is it possible to have a section on this site dedicated to U2 covers??? were people can upload vids/tutorials etc of them playing/singing U2 songs. i know that theres youtube but having sumthing on here would be excellent, people could get feedback from real u2 fans, not just any random who feels like writing crap. and what about a U2 sheet music/tab collection, that would also be really cool
(I'm not asking for too much am I? )

The majority of that tone is from the Korg A3 multi-effects unit. You would need setting # 76 "Funk Wah" patch from the SPC-01 card.

If one were to buy a Korg A3 online on ebay or the like, be sure to ask if it comes with the SPC-01 card. That has the Edge tones of Mysterious Ways, Numb and even that odd sounding intro tone to Lady With The Spinning Head.

The A3 unit itself without the SPC-01 card doesn't have the Edge tones. But if the auction doesn't include it, you can download the sysex files of the card from www.korgaseries.org (although, I've not done that myself, I've heard it's not hard)

Can Mysterious Ways tone be captured with other gear? I've yet to hear anyone nail it without a Korg A3. There are some that have experimented with Line 6 M13 and gotten near but not quite close enough to dispose of one's Korg A3.
  6. I saw adam use a purple-ish & sparkly bass in the last concert pics.
new toy? looks good, in any case.
  7. I saw pics too. At first I thought "Could it be the lighting or the way the photo was treated?"

But I have subsequently seen TWO different piccies... so it looks like he got one refinished. Maybe the dark purple one seen during the studio pics? Maybe the burgundy mist one refinished? Maybe a different one all together that was refinished?

Do you know what show that was from? I'd like to see if there is YouTube footage of it - to verify.

Whatever bass was refinished, hope it sounds as striking as it looks. Cause THAT is one great looking Precision Bass.
  8. sorry for the late response, now you already figured when he used it defo prefer it to the gold one as well, looks way funkier in purple!

The gold Precision and Jazz are great . But I have to agree that the purple is especially funky.

Looks to have the same abalone-like fret markers that the gold one has. Love the matching purple sparkle headstock.

I'd LOVE to have one just like it.
