1. DVD of Glasgow available if anyone is interested. I have put together from my own footage shot from Edges side pretty close to stage and mixed with lots of footage from Youtube.

If you were there on 18th August you will enjoy this and it will be a great reminder of the night - and if you weren't there, I'm sure there are better quality shows to choose from but this is very watchable, good sound and some great footage of what was a great night. Band are in great form and a great atmosphere which I hope comes across in the video.

If anyone wants a copy and in particular if someone wants to upload to Rapidshare or whatever to make it more accessible then I would be grateful.

  2. Awesome I sent you a pm
  3. 2 quick questions:
How complete is the footage you shot yourself?
Is the additional material sourced from the Original recordings or did you download them off youtube?

Oh, and if you plan to share it, I'd strongly suggest to share the DVD9 version you did first.
  4. I would love a copy of this DVD as it was my sons first U2 gig. It was a very big Dad and Son night, as I have promised him since he was a wee boy that I would take him one day to see U2 - The best live band on the planet. My email addy is erskine4u@hotmail.com if you can contact me their or leave your email on here and I'll contact you ??

    Cheers

I shot about 70% of the show myself and the footage is really clear and the zoomed in scenes are good.

To give a better idea of what I did........,

    - I laid my own footage down over the full show audio and synced it all up.
    - Downloaded over 200 clips from YouTube and converted all of them to 16 : 9 (not stretching) and tried as much as poss to sharpen up.... (This has taken me a month!!)
    - Added the best of the 200+ clips to my timeline and synced them all up.
    - Cut from camera to camera throughout to give a kind of live feel to the show.
    - Rendered out at 9,800kbps using Vegas Pro9
    - Rendered audio track as both PCM and AC-3 Dolby Stereo. Both tracks are on the DVD9 Version to choose from (AC-3 track slightly level is lower)
    - Authored DVD with menus using DVD Architec 4.5. This gave me a DVD9 version totaling approx 8GB.
    - Used DVD Shrink to compress to DVD4 which has degraded the quality a bit and PCM audio track removed.

What I didnt want to do was to use my own footage and then just have some YouTube stuff in between plugging the holes so its fairly consistent throughout.

So - to answer your question the YouTube stuff is downloaded but looks surprisingly good considering. I have watched it right through on a Toshiba 42" LCD TV and it looks and sounds pretty good.

I would prefer to share the DVD9 version if someone out there would be prepared to upload somewhere for me as I dont have a great broadband connection where I am. Any offers?

In the meantime, would be happy to make and post out DVD's to anyone looking to get a copy. Buy me a beer or send me some stamps.

    Cheers
    Mick

I was there with my 3 sons. My 8 yr old twins love U2 and this was their first ever gig - they were blown away and they love the DVD. My 12 yr old son loved Vertigo gig at Hampden but this blew him away too. He has been watching the finished DVD all weekend. They do make a short appearance in the vid!! (I couldnt resist!)

I'll PM my email address to you and you can email me your address etc.
    Cheers,

  7. I wouldnt mind just having your own standalone footage on DVD. Did you film it all or only use 70% of your footage for the mix? The youtube thing puts me off (espescially 200 different clips). There is bound to be inconsitency with the quality. If you have filmed the complete show though I would love to have it on its own.

    Hi mate.

You might be better to get a copy and see what you think. Would be happy to post you one.
I didn't use 200 clips, I downloaded 200 and used the best of them. I used sources from approx 15 YouTube users, some from right in front of Bono, some at the back of the stadium and some in the crowd. The idea was to give a feel of the atmosphere from around the stadium.

There is of course some inconsistency in quality but its still well worth a watch and way more watchable than my stanalone footage. As I said in another forum post, I'm sure there are - and will be far better DVD's from this tour and this is only my feeble attempt and might only be a god souvenir for people who were actually there.

But I hope people will enjoy it anyway.

    Cheers
    Mick

PS - I only filmed 70% of it.

sounds good. I'll certainly have to get a look at it.

  10. PM me your address and I'll send you a copy out.
I am rendering Unknown Caller just now and will upload onto YouTube so you can see what to expect.

    Thanks
    Mick
  11. Youtube sample looks great so far (still hopping at this very moment coz it's still loading to the server I think).
I'm def in for spreading it on u2torrents. Be sure that I'll give all the credits and praises to you over there!

PS: I'd take both the Dual Layer and normal DVD version if that's ok.

PS: The intro video is awesome! Especially where you can see the stage being built and when it gets filled with the crowd.
