I think I spelt Gahdafi right. In all fairness, if they want a fight, I have no qualms about going to war with either of them.
  2. Also, you cant deny that the Iranian government is pretty fucking nuts. To this day they insist that the U.S. government shot down Iran Air Flight 655 on purpose.
  3. I dont think Iran is acting like it should, but to be honest I dont think America is a role model either. Im sure live in the USA is better, but USA is just plain arrogant.

Now they start thinking about the environment, and now they say the rest of the world should too. But Obama doesnt say that 99% of all other countries started years ago, when the USA refused to take their responsibility. Also it makes me sick how superior they act.

I'm sorry but the USA is not superior, they only stick their nose in places where it doesnt belong. Foreign policy created more problems than they solved.

Note: nothing against americans, this is just my opinion about american foreign policy.

You do realize, if America didn't meddle in foreign affairs, you'ed be speaking German right now.

  5. Bollocks. We'd be speaking Russian.

Gotta say thanks now. Basically, USA taking part in the World War 2 had a major impact on the whole result. Americans knew what they were doing, though. Obviously, the war was fought in Europe and Africa, so after the war had ended, USA were set to become a superpower while Europe was in ruins.

  6. Actually, you're quite wrong there.
If you're talking about the americans in WW2...you know that the russians were already nearly in Poland by the time the americans started to fight? The war was already ending, but the americans wanted to take that last chance to fight the germans, to make sure Russia wouldn't have the biggest influence in Europe.

Of course, we're still gratefull for the americans liberating West-europe, but it all started with the Russians.

    You're both right and wrong.

The Russians had started attacking the Nazis by the time the USA entered the war, but if there had been no operation Overlord, I doubt the Russians would have defeated Hitler on their own. Dividing the war into the East and West front was crucial.

You're right about the influence, though.

It´s a combination of both. Russians might have not got so far that they could liberate West-Europe as well, we'll never know. Germany got itself for the second time in a ''two-side'' war. Btw..it might have taken more years for Russia to liberate Europe. Who knows what than had happened.

The reason you mention why the US headed to Europe looks valid though. Though also that is partially true. The US started among with the Brits Operation Husky, to conquer Italy. That was in 1943. Some German troops on the Eastern front were sent to Italy. So the USSR had a weaker opponent.

The Russians started the liberation, the Americans, Canadians and all the other allies collaborated with them. That collaboration made 'us' win the war. So the US are partially the reason why we're not talking German..

No chance that the Russians would have defeated Hitler on their own, as you say what actually caused the downfall of the Germans was the splitting of the war on two fronts. Germany had already won in Western Europe by the time the USA stepped in. To add to Aaron's generalization:

If it wasn't for US foreign policy everyone in the Pacific would be speaking Japanese right now

That is an interesting inference, but if you want the real reason the US joined the war was because of Japan. US was still leaning towards joining against Germany to help UK at some point but who knows when that would have happened. If pearl Harbor never happens who knows what happens in europe
