1. How come? Did you do anything to it to get it to work again?

  2. Didnt use it for 2 years. Just plugged it into my laptop and as it appears, it works again. Body is damaged due to the crash but I'm still happy with it. Beautiful device.

  3. A miracle! It has come back from the dead! lol. I wonder how long will my iPod last.
  4. my old 1st gen U2 iPod still works grand. Probably because it was never used

  5. haha. Mine is in a safe with all my U2mp3's on it

  6. would like to have the 1st gen U2 iPod... love the video one with the black back though. I wasnt never gonna throw it away anyway but I can use it again Prefer the looks over my Touch.

Gonna use my U2 iPod as a harddisk

  7. Mine died and the USB insert part corroded and bent out of shape, plus the screen warped and the hard drive connector snapped. Apart from that it works great!

Got a classic 80GB but good luck finding it.
  8. Well here I am again... I'm really close to buying a new surround set. My current speakers are not really good, especially the sub is very bad. It can go very loud, but only hard 'boom' sounds, very ugly. Because I only want to replace it with something a lot better I am looking at the Logitech Z-5500.

It has pretty good reviews etc, but I hope someone here on U2Start can help me decide. I know its better to start with a decent amplifier/receiver and some highend speakers. But that will cost at least double.

Is it easy to screw the speakers to the ceiling? My current set is all over the place and my rear speakers are more my side speakers. I would like to screw them to the ceiling/wall because i probably cant use the speakerstands i have now. And buying a new pair is just too much to ask of my wallet

I can get the set for 250 euro's here in holland. That is around 370 USD.

Im buying these. Read up on them extensively and actually tried them. Ill post more shortly.

Im getting them because of the saving over av reveiver/amp. As my ps3 is the hub of my media, these are perfect. Optical cable straight into the control pod and job done. Insane sound quality and massively loud. Beware the size of the sub. Its bigger than a microwave and pumps out incredible base. The satelites and control pod are rather large and are faurly easy to wall mount. There is little room for rotation though when mounted. Ceiling might be a little high though. Location of speakers is paramount for full effect. Try and get all the satelites aimed at your listening position. Stunning results. Satelite speaker cables easily extended.

Things to watch. Sub woofer can regularly pop its fuses so use a surge protector on the electrical socket and have a few spare fuses lying around. Price also fluxuiated by a hundred pounds or so, so keep an eye on prices. As an alternative to full on hight equipment, it doesnt come better.
  10. I've read extensively as well. There are not many stands for them. Because the standard foot cant be removed. Also I'd like to mount them on the ceiling but Im not sure if thats possible...

Cant wait to hear what you think of them when you bought them!

my order was cancelled due to no stock. I have tried them though so read above. Ceiling mounting is tricky with the feet but they go on to the wall fine. I personally think ceiling is too high myself. Just above head height, slightly angled down is perfecg.
  12. Problem is that i only have 3 walls and one big window. Thats why I thought of the ceiling. Also my room is very long and I dont have any furniture behind me to put the rear speakers on.
My current set came with stands but they cant be used on the Z5500. I m sure i can think of something though.

I have seen someone mounting them on the ceiling using a very cheap convenient store brace thing. That might solve my problem. Or i need to make something myself to use my current stands.

The popping issue should be fixed. Logitech promissed to solve issues of current owners as well. According a popular Dutch tech website.
