  1. I was reading U2 by U2 the other day and in the Pop section it sounded to me like Bono retired playing "Please" live after 9/11. Has it been played since? I haven't heard it in a while. Anyone know the last time they played it live?

    I actually believe they played it every night on the 3th leg of Elevation (all shows were post-9/11).
    I DO know it became a regular after 9/11 (until the last Elevation-show that is)
  4. It was not until after 9/11 - during the 3rd leg of the Elevation tour, when U2 began playing it again. It was played most, if not all, 3rd leg Elevation shows.

    As it was 9/11 that brought them to play it again, that might be why they feel they shouldn't play it again? That I am not sure. I suppose never say never.

    even though it was a song about good ole Ireland. He gave Please to the Americans on Elevation and Sunday Bloody Sunday on Vertigo. 'Its your song now'
  6. Please was worked on in soundcheck on the Vertigo tour. So I don't think they have retired it due to 911. Bono said something similiar about Sunday Bloody Sunday after The Joshua Tree tour about the Rattle and Hum version being the ultimate and that the song didnt need to be played any longer as a result. Well we all know what happened there.

    I think it will be played again someday. Doubt it will be this tour though.
