Adam Clayton says U2: Rock Band is a definite maybe

"With last year's AC/DC Live track pack, and last month's The Beatles: Rock Band unleashed on the world, the holdouts who still haven't made an appearance in the music/rhythm game genre are few, but legendary. Springsteen comes to mind, and Prince, who had a high profile failure to come to terms with the Guitar Hero folks. One band on many fans' wish lists, who turned down an offer of collaboration from Harmonix last year, is reconsidering turning down that invitation. It looks like U2 may be coming to the party after all. USA Today talked to bassist Adam Clayton about the band's change of heart in the wake of The Beatles: Rock Band. “We didn't want to be caricatured,” says Clayton. "What The Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we're interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation. " Unlike high profile holdouts like Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, the members of U2 have no problem with the music/rhythm game genre in general. "We definitely would like to be in there, but we felt some of the compromises weren't what we wanted," Clayton says. "That could change. I love the idea that that's where people are getting music, and we'd love to be in that world. We'll figure something out." So, there you have it. U2: Rock Band, coming to your console eventually...but definitely...maybe. *** In the meantime, take a moment to pop on over to Thrive, Children's Hospital Boston's health and science blog, and check out some writing from my day job . While you're there, stick around for this amazing video series about a kid undergoing an experimental desensitization trial that may cure him of his milk allergy . You can find all that as well as topics ranging from the straight facts about H1N1 and vaccinations to an article about whether American Girl dolls are better for your children than Bratz (let me go ahead and ruin this one for you...YES). Enjoy!"

Ya that's very similar to what i had read. So basically expect nothing in the near future between...end of this leg of the tour-->Songs of Ascent recording/mixing--->Legs 3, 4, 5. I don't have any hopes for this happening any time soon

  3. heres the box if you guys are wondering.
to me it looks legit and 100%real.

  4. Dude, I could have made a better box cover than that. What is the source?

    This is the Beatles':

  5. lol not to me. why would they choose their worst cover for the rockband one. think.
  6. From what I've read this week, this game is a possibilty. As I understood from the article I've read on nu.nl http://www.nu.nl/muziek/2097779/u2-denkt-eigen-rock-band-game.html it's nothing more than that.

So the cover as shown in the previosu posts looks like a bootleg to me (a pretty good one, but still)/
I would welcome a game like that and would buy any platform to play this game. U2 deserves it.
  7. I am really pissed, mad and sad! People just don´t know the value of U2! You go to general forums that don´t belong to fan websites people are making huge fun of the idea. People say things like "Bono will need a 50' screen to fit his ego", "When you play 100 gigs you get to talk to Bill Clinton", " There won´t be guitar, just a pedal". People think that a good guitarist shredds, they don´t value the technological inovaions from The Edge or Bono´s activism. The´ve only heard Beautiful Day and Vertigo and think they´ve heard it all. U2 is such a versatile band and one of the most innovative bands ever up there with Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Rolling Stones and The Beatles. People there were putting U2 in the same category as Coldplay!!!! Absurd!!!! U2 is among the best Rock and Alternative bands ever!!!!! Those people were saying that it would be much better a Guns and Roses or Kiss game. But I think U2 has much more interesting things to play than those bands and even Aerosmith that has their own game! . I can easily come up with a good list of songs that would be awesome! Also considering the hole band experience! There could even be a 5 keys keyboard! Hate those nearminded people that judge bands by three songs!!!

Just Imagine a game with these:

    U2 songs:

    Tic Toc 11 O´Clock
    Out of Control
    I Will Follow
    The Electric Co.
    Gloria
    New Year´s Day (keyboard)
    Sunday Bloody Sunday
    Pride
    Bad
    The Unforgettable Fire (keyboard)
Where The Streets Have No Name
I Still Haven´t Found What I´m Looking For
With or Without (ZooTV solo) (keyboard)
Bullet the Bkue Sky (Zoo TV solo)
    Zoo Station
    One
Even Better Than The Real Thing (special pedal)
    The Fly
Until The End of The World
    Stay
    Lemon
    Zooropa
Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me
    MoFo
    Gone (keyboard)
    Last Night on Earth
    Discotheque (Live)
    Beautiful Day
    Elevation (with pedal)
    Kite (extended solo)
    Vertigo
    City of Blinding Lights (keyboard)
    Love and Peace or Else
    Sometimes (Live)
    Crumbs From Your Table
    Breathe (keyboard)
    Unknown Caller
    Magnificent
    Stand Up Comedy

    Covers:

    Instant Karma
    All Along The Watchover
    Sattelite of Love
    People Get Ready

    Influences and Influenced:

Blitzkriegpop (is this it?) - Ramones
    London Calling - The Clash
    Let Down - Radiohead (keyboard)
    In My Place - Coldplay

    Places:

    Red Rocks
    Joshua Tree Paris
    Zoo TV Sydney
    Popmart Sarajevo
    Elevation Boston
    Vertigo Chicago
    U2360 Wembley

Expansion Packs for the stuff to come!

That´s socool and one of the best games!
