  2. I was at the first NY show (9/23) and had excellent seats. I had GA for Tampa and was centerstage about 5 rows back from catwalk. I thought the show in NY was great but the crowd seemed quiet and the people in the seats in my row were more interested in drinking beer than watching the show. Then came Tampa. Maybe it was that I was on the floor but I thought the crowd was much louder than NY and everyone seemed to be going crazy! No one was drunk, everyone was just loving U2. The heat was intense and I couldn't believe Bono kept his leather jacket on as long as he did. But I think the crowd kept the band going and Edge was dancing around more than he did in NY. At the intermission, we walked to the back of the stadium to get some water and were shocked that even at the other end of the stadium people were screaming as loud as in the front and everyone was dancing and having a great time. It was beautiful to watch the show from such a distance, you could really appreciate the beauty of the stage that far back. I did not expect to enjoy the concert in Tampa as much as I did and it was because the audience was as great as the band they were watching. Next time I plan to skip NY, the fans are just not the same as they used to be. Tampa rocked. Also, after seeing Muse twice (and not knowing their music at all) I now consider myself a fan. They were great and I would expect this exposure to gain them many American fans.
  3. We arrived at Raymond James Stadium shortly after noon on Friday. The wait outside was horrible. Due to the extreme heat, I nearly passed out several times in line at the field entrance. If fans hadn't sacrificed their H20, I would probably be in the hospital right now instead of typing this. I've never considered myself a U2 fanatic until this show. I would have rather died than miss out on that concert though.

My stubborn attitude paid off in the end. For most of the show, we were front row on Adam's side. The couple directly in front of us shared their front row placement with us.

The entire show was amazing, but my most emotional moments happened with "Amazing Grace" and "Moment of Surrender." Amazing Grace was my father's favorite song. He passed away last month, so it was performed at his funeral mass. I dropped to my knees in tears when Bono started singing that song. Later on, "Moment of Surrender" put me on my knees again. It was equal parts sadness of Dad's passing, and gladness of the end to his suffering.

This will be our last GA placement though. I'm not being over dramatic when I say I felt like dying in the Tampa heat. Being front row at two U2 shows, aka VERTIGO and 360, are enough for us. We'll either get the super expensive seats or the nose bleeds next time.

As overjoyed as we were to be sent into the area closest to the stage by security, we didn't feel like we deserved to be there though. They actually could have fit another 50-100 people in there comfortably too. After the show, a woman who had expensive tickets was really angry, and said to me something like 'It's not fair that GA people invaded our area." I didn't know if she knew we had $55 GA tickets, so I just nodded in agreement.

Great story about Amazing Grace, It is a nice moment in the show. U2 has such an impact with there music and different periods in our life. MOS will for you and every time I hear Sometimes You Cant Make It, I think of the birth of my first child and staying in the hospital for two weeks praying he would be fine.(he was) The album had just come out and was a soundtrack to my emotions. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Just got home from my Tampa and Dallas shows. Too tired right now to type but stay tuned. I can't wait to tell you guys my experience!!!

Listening to Tampa Boot right now. A big Thank You to those who tape and upload the Awesome Boots!!!
Amazing Memories!!!! My God I LOVE this Band!!!!!!!
  6. Well... It's hard to believe it was a week ago today I was in Tampa hanging out with U2 and my friends.

I finally have some time to post my experience:
We arrived at the stadium at about 2:00 I really wanted to have a shot at meeting the band or at least Bono. So I waited where a few other fans were by the loading area of the stadium.
we waited and waited and waited.. It was 100 degrees and no clouds at all.

Finally the sirens can be heard and the convoy of black SUV's pass by. Bono's car was first. He had the window rolled down and was on the phone while he was waving at us. Just at that moment the driver pushed the gas, as we all snapped a shot of Bono's hand sticking out of the window. It was actually funny, we got a hand... Anyway Bono's bodyguard came out and told us "Bono sent him out to tell us he couldn't come meet us because the band's flight was running late and they were doing a live link tonight". We said " Wow tell him we said thanks for letting us know"!!

After that, it was a mad dash to the GA line. The stadium opened half an hour late and finally we were in. We made our way into the inner circle, Adam's side about five people away from the back of the inner circle path. It was a great place to be, as every time the movable bridge would stop it would be just to the left of us.

It was so Hot Bono took off his jacket and Adam even rolled up his shirt. You defintly could see the sweat pouring off the band. It was crazy hot.

For me this was Heaven on Earth. I had been to two shows before this Vertigo-Glendale and Vertigo-Hawaii both shows we were nose bleeds. This time I was determined to see the band up close. Thanks to the Amazing design of the Claw that was totally possible. I couldn't believe I was so close to the Band. It really was a dream come True!!

We waited about an hour for the mass amounts of people to exit the stadium and get out of the street so the band could leave and they could open up our parking lot.

The next day we went to Universal Studios. It was cool seeing fans with U2 and Muse T-shirts at the parks, we started to talk about the show waiting in line.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this dream come true. All U2start friends-you guys are Awesome. And all new U2 friends I made that night!!
Hopefully I'll meet more U2 Friends back in Space!!!!

Head on over to the Dallas thread for that experience!!

I don't understand the people who can't get behind the new songs. At first, I, too, thought No Line was a mediocre album, but after a couple listens, I find it to be at least as good as my other favorites.

Btw, by Moment of Surrender my voice had been stressed unlike anything in over a year, but I made every possible effort to yell and chant some more. Why on earth would anyone not?

It was a good show but the heat got to Bono and his voice and energy around mid-show. He took his leather jacket off for One and Streets but you could just tell the 90's in October was a bit much. During Elevation bridge he sung "the heat will knock u off your feet".

I thought the heat was going to get to me, too - at past concerts, I've been getting exhausted - but, after all these years being a Floridian, I guess I've become quite the amphibian.

sad though last show off the year.

I hope they play Miami in 2010. Hope is the wrong word - I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to pass up one of their favorite cities. Rather, I should hope to get tickets.

I did meet a couple of people whom I thought drunk, but most of them not to the point where their performance was inhibited. Apparently, some people need a little alcohol in 'em to go crazy.

I wouldn't put too much faith in Tampa as a city. Maybe we were just lucky to get so many Latin Americans up at this event.
  8. FAcebook Pics of the show posted, Add me! So you can see the pics!!!
