By the way, and regarding Unknown Caller as a whole, look at what I found in a U2.com Barcelona review:

    Hahahahaha.

    well it seems they were.....ermm......mistaken
  2. I'm a little conflicted about disliking Unknown Caller, lyrically anyway. I get where they're going with the metaphor; I'm just not sure it really works. I know it doesn't work for me, either live or as the album version. It doesn't seem to have the accessibility of their best work, either in the theme or the lyrics.

A notable exception is the first verse, which I personally think is kind of wonderful. What a shame they couldn't develop that into a song with the universality of ISHFWILF or One.

I was lost between the midnight and the dawning
In a place of no consequence or company
3:33 when the numbers fell off the clock face
Speed dialling with no signal at all

And then it descends into all kinds of self-indulgence and waffle.
  3. Im confused by Unknown Caller. It is a good song but I lost my liking for it. It is too "random" for America. In South America and Europe and Australia, I have a feeling it will be better recieved.

**Barcelona version sounds great on the bootleg <3
  4. Wait, what the hell?

    They dropped Unknown Caller?

Why, the song is fantastic live, they should have lost the karoke bit, but the song itself is great live.
Especially with Edge's ragged solo at the end.

I agree with you for the most part. The shouted/chanted lines do it in for me.

I wouldn't count on it being well received in Australia; NLOTH has had very little airplay or publicity down here. I know a number of people who consider themselves U2 fans who were surprised to know there was a new album and new songs. Which sucks.
  7. Sorry about the duplicate posts, guys. I must be going blind, where's the delete button hiding?

  8. There isn't one. All you can do is edit or leave as is.

It should do well in Japan considering that's where karaoke was invented.

They're trying to recreate Popmart with the karaoke section. Unfortunately it just seems stupid here.

the karaoke gadget in concert adds nothing to the song being great or not.
It is e great and classic U2 tune, played live it is the real magnificent song, however the karaoke looks rather silly

Exactly, it's a serious song like MoS, the karaoke bit makes it cheesy, especially as the lyrics flash on screen which themselves are pretty awkward if u don't know the tech metaphor.
