  1. Fellow U2 fans - a group of friends and I are heading to the Vancouver, BC show next week. I have been to a couple shows before but I have always had assigned seats. We have GA tickets and want to make the most of them.

    I want to make the most of these tickets. My question is this: if we want to have our pick of where to stand and be close to the stage how early do we need to be in line? The show begins at 7: 00 pm. We are prepared to be there just about any time to make the most of this.

    Thanks for you thoughts or suggestions on this.

    It depends if you want to be in the inner circle or outside the catwalk.3 hours early got me where I wanted to be, just outside the catwalk. Had plenty of room in the inner if I wanted it. The crowd only filled out around 6 or so.

    Vancouver is usually good regarding GA. The field is very large (wide). Given the show is on a Wednesday I'll expect the die-hards to line up at 08:00 or so with about 1000 people by noon. After that people will start to leave work early and head down to BC Place.

    If you want first row rail, be there early, if you can stand 2nd-5th row, get there by noon.. after that its kinda your choice... as previously mentined all depends on where you want to be....you can still get there 2/3 hours before the show and get a good spot.

    Personally, I'll be in the red zone, first row, as far into the middle as i can be...!! See you there.

    Don't take bags into the stadium with you if you can avoid it at all. Put things you have to keep with you into your pockets and take the rest back to your car/hotel room before the line starts closing up around 2 or 3pm. You'll get through security heaps faster if they don't have to search your bag. Know what you can take in and what you can't - time spent arguing with security is time that you're standing still while people around you are getting in. Have your ticket in your hand (I know that seems stupidly basic but I got stuck behind someone once who couldn't find theirs). Don't stand behind people who'll need searching if you can avoid it. Be a good line citizen and don't smoke in the middle of a crowd (bitter? me?) and don't push, shove or trip.

    Smile and relax and don't be That Guy.

    I recommend you not to try to get into the inner circle, but on the top of the outter ellipse. Best spot on the whole stadium to see and feel the show; you will get quite a lot of band action, and moreover you get to see almost the whole stage and screen.

    This, SO much. I was on the outer rail 4 out of the 6 times I saw them this tour (by choice). The view and the sound were brilliant and you have all the convenience of being on the rail. The pit is awesome and if you're going more than once you should experience it at least one time, but you don't see everything and the stage is very high. You have to be quick though, the outer rail fills up fast.
  9. Just wanted to give a shout of thanks to you who replied. Your advice was perfect.

    1) No bags, no purses, no nothing. We must have walked by 20 people waiting to get their bags checked out!

    2) We were a little off center to the right on the outer ring! Are you kidding me! Can't imagine there were better seats in the house. Saw the whole stage, screen and lots and lots of band play. We were just to the left of where the walkway stopped. They all visited us multiple times! Incredible. Thank you so much.

    3) We got there just before noon. I was still the 786th person in line - seriously, they numbered us so we could enter in order! Most people ran for the inner circle. We wandered over to the outer circle and were happy!

    4) I even got a courtesy high as some ladies next to me puffed the Purple Kush.

    5) Three people passed out/required medical attention.

    It was amazing. Thanks again.
