1. wow thats a refreshing comment. finally someone grateful for what we were able to witness and someone not generalizing and abusing america. wasnt a perfect performance but lets see someone from the froum perform night after night and travel across the world. I enjoyed the show a lot.

not very true. I still enjoyed the show, and I think it's a great show but it's just not good enough for a DVD in my opinion. I think most of the other shows were better and had better setlists. Of course on DVD it will look and sound better.

You just cant say 'people forget how to enjoy things like this' , thats rubbish. I think most of us enjoyed it but also felt that the band wasnt really on fire. And they write it down here, some a little more harsh than others.

Also the general music listener who likes U2 even a little bit must have loved it.
  3. Anyway everyone is entitled to their opinion. We wouldnt need the forum if everyone agrees on something. There wouldnt be any discussion.

Die hard fans are often very critical. And dont forget a little bit of criticism is only healthy. I think U2 has been defined by critics. U2 always proved them wrong. Just think of how U2 changed because people at the end of the 80s said that U2 wouldnt have a chance in the 'new era'. That U2 wasnt enough Rock 'n Roll... Then U2 gave us ZooTV. Also after the 'disappointing' POPMART tour U2 came with ATYCLB. What you might think of the album doesnt matter, but with ATYCLB U2 was back at the top, as biggest band in the world.

They are at their best when criticised (just listen to leeds). And I do think they are critical about their own work as well. Otherwise they would have released an album every month.
  4. good show. I was on the rear inner rail, Adam's side. Overall the band played well, way to careful, DVD shoot. Other then a whole lot of idiots who felt they were in charge of the line up outside, not security, just some idiots who could not play nice, it was a good day.

be careful, someone said here, it was at best a 3.5 star bootleg without ear plugs that close.....

  5. eh... I thought myself it was pretty good!

  6. unbelievable how they missed the flash. great version of streets though!
  7. Well, I know there is a bunch of moaning and blablabla here. But I really wanna post my point of view in a constructive manner.
I watched the gig from Breathe to Vertigo and stayed up to 3:30A.M. (Brasilia time zone) to watch it since I had school at 7:00 A.M. Considering the time I need to get ready, I only slept 2:30 hours because of this.

My expectations were really up there. I had listened to quality bootlegs and I thought that B´s voice was the best since ZooTV, and I still think it is.
But I was kind of disapointed.

We all know his voice has ups and downs. He seemed to be holding his voice a little bit during some songs, such as UC, so he could sing songs like TUF well. And sometimes he sounded a lot like in Elevation tour which is the time I like his voice the least because he shouted a lot.

As far as performance, this and the difference in the end of Magnificet guitar solo were my only concerns.

The stream was good, sometimes it just kept buffering a lot... but maybe it´s my computer. The sound was okay, regular TV broadcast but I could listen to it in headphones which was better.
The crowd was quite enthusiastic, if this becomes the DVD it will be my fav U.S. crowd.

The DVD! Yes I know it will get a really nice sound treatment and more cameras and angles, but I whish they thought better before they decide what to release. In my opinion, they shouldn´t announce that it will be filmed and turn out to be a DVD. This puts too much pressure on them and if they don´t do so well by their standards like yesterday they´ll be forced to at least release material from that.
That´s why I think they just need to film a few concerts each leg and later get the best one or even mix concerts up. Maybe it wouldn´t even have so many angles and stuff, but I wouldn´t care.

I hate how Chicago DVD was filmed, some weird shots. I really like the Paris one from JT.

I sometimes find it weird when they release concerts. They chose Pasadena, a day that B was in okay shape. Vertigo was filmed in the middle of B´s flu/bronchites, can´t recall.
I remember watching a gig in the third leg in Chicago, the one that was not filmed, they were a lot more loose and Bono´s voice was way way better than the filmed one in the first leg (I was there too).
Also, they waited too long to film, If they were to use this system of announcing before they should´ve done Europe in the first 15 shows where his voice was in marvelous shape, not tired yet.

Last but not least, I actually would like if the band didn´t care to be The Best Band in the world in a popular way such as they try now. They should fuck off mainstream and do music they find amazing, even if it´s not radio or pop.
Then, they would be The Best Band In The World, just like they were in the 90´s.

Thanx for your time, I needed to get it out of my system because I think it was more a problem of planning. Probably if I was at the show I wouldn´t realise his voice was raspy and wuld love it even if it was. But since is a dvd....

    Thanx again
