Last nights show was easily as strong as PopMart or Slane in regards to setlist and bonos voice. The only true way to judge a show is if they were all filmed and we saw them or where at the show. Other than that it is all purely subjective.

  2. Im really happy for the Pasadena and the Rose Bowl and give the band respect for filming the show on a webcast and for the tour DVD on a single night. I know i will happily buy it and months after i have it in my home, then I will judge how good it is compared to the others. (Even though i think we hold Zoo Tv in way to high a spot because of its legacy.)

    This wasn't a couple of flubs, basically the whole performance was staid. What are they going to do completely overdub the audio with something from another concert?

    And ask anyone here if the bands raw, unedited performance on the night was a match for the same at Sydney or Slane.


  4. So right. It is all about expectations, really. U2 is cursed because they have set the bar so high, that anything short of a galactic orgasm is viewed with contempt by their fans. Go see 5 shows by ANY other band or musical act, and compare consistency, energy, and showmanship. I was at the Rose Bowl, and you could find people who loved it, hated it, and everything in between. If you expected an emotional experience like Slane Castle after Bono's dad died, you were diappointed. If you expected a big, glitzy, polished, made-for-TV show with solid musical performances, you were likely thrilled. Bono struggles on some of the new songs, but hey, it's LIVE performance. Get over it, people.

  6. I would look more positively on this webcast if it remained only a webcast. I feel that they have given us too much to see of a planned future release. The DVD already feels 'old' or something. We might see 30% different angles and get a killer audio track but I don't want this webcast to follow through as an official release. Something didn't seem to gel last night. I can't pinpoint it exactly but something wasn't there. The 'intimacy on a grand scale' theme wasn't visible for a start. I dunno. Keep this webcast as a great memento of this show but I think the tour memento needs to be a lot better.

    Absolutely. The great shows of these two legs were quite another story.

    Edge fucks up quite a few solos, and Bono's voice's OK for a concert, but not OK for a live recording - it reminds me so much of the Spring leg of the Vertigo tour (very low voice, nothing to do with the very last leg).

    I ask myself: why didn't U2 film the show when the voice and the overwhelming public where there - i.e., say, back in Amsterdam I? It's great to have a live webcast, but I don't think this should be a DVD. Bono's out of breath, and this concert doesn't do justice to what U2360 has been so far - at least from a musical point of view.

    Well, that's my 2 pennies.

    It's not even the musical mistakes (I love those). Something else wasn't right last night. It failed to trigger any of the emotions I felt at the gigs I attended. Maybe thats just me. Bono certainly appeared to be a let down but I can't pin it on him fully. The webcast has been a huge success and I do believe they can make the DVD a million miles better than what we saw last night but something was missed. Maybe if I watch it a few times i'll have that eureka moment and pinpoint it. Maybe it was the time of night that I was up but they failed to get me last night
  9. I see what you mean - I'm watching the show now and I think I agree. Well, that's a Irish band, they're playing in the US (though the crowd reacts at times very well), they're almost 50, they've been on tour since the end of June. It's like they have to show something to the US people; they've been enjoying other shows much more. Yes, it's a bit cold overall. And yes, I guess I was expecting more. As an ex (classical) musician, I'm mostly disappointed by Bono's voice - in part's it's the mix, but in part it's the fact that the songs are too high, and he's insisting in singing that high. Please Bono, don't try to sing as if you were still 30. It can work for a couple of months, but it doesn't work on the long run - at least, it doesn't work after 3/4 months on the road.

  11. I find NLOTH (and Elevation, for that matter) really terrible - the song's too high, the voice's stretched... Please U2, you can do better. Use a smaller stage, sing less, and think about the quality of what you're doing. If you wanna record a show, don't record the last one. Pick one in the middle, pick one where the voice's there and Bono's more at ease.

    not at all. Certain youtube videos did better to stir me up than the webcast did. Lots of U2 stuff gets my emotions going. Last night didn't. I will find out why though. Wasn't the mistakes. Cant even blame the crowd
