  2. "...now we LIE together..." from Ultraviolet is the absolute winner for me. He hits it very very well night after night, he hasn't failed yet, kudos for Bono

In fact, these are probably the two best verses ever:

I remember when we could sleep on stones
And now we lie together in whispers and moans

Absolute highlight of U2's discography in my opinion.

  5. It's the absolute desperation that you feel for a love that you had, but now is gone. You remember the good times and feel very sorry for not being able to go back, to feel it again. Now you're living (or just remembering) with a person you don't love, and/or he/she doesn't love anymore either. It's really sad because you both used to be so happy together, and now the only way to communicate are whispers, complaints, discussions, moans...

I really can't explain it in English, I just feel that verses are so definitive.
(BTW I agree with Mark, the whole paragraph is so incredibly wonderful and sad)
  6. Magnificent at the Milan shows had amazing operatic singing during the breakdown. He really should have done it at every show.

You explained it very well in English. I agree, the whole song is great, but that bridge takes it to a whole new level both musically and lyrically
