1. ^ nice PJ comparison, I have a lot of respect for them and their setlist changes.

but then again, they don't have a light show and claw to rig to all the different songs I suppose.

True..I agree with you 100%.But I dont need a 250 foot claw. The band played different songs on the Vertigo Tour.I saw the band 4 nights on that tour, they opened with different songs each night and closed with a different song each night.Maybe they could do without such an elaborate stage. Its too complex and flashy.I dont know.It just frustrates me as a huge U2 fan.U2 have become predictable live.I knew what songs they were going to play.Thats not good.
  3. I know what you all are saying. This tour bar the encore (which I must admit even now is getting boring) has got to be one of the most BORING tours ever setlist wise. Talk about playing it safe U2.

You are right. But,then again, the setlist has been the same for the WHOLE tour.Breathe has opened every show but one (Foxboro night 2).UV,WOWY and MOS have closed every single show this tour.EVERY ONE.The band play a couple of different songs here and there ,big deal.So what.A band as great as U2 should not be so predictable live.I have loved this band since 1983, and yes, they are very predictable live.Once each show gets up to UF its the same.If they dont watch out, they will become (gasp) like the Stones.Playing the SAME songs every night.
PoP and ZooTV were like this.Elaborate stages, predictable sets.
  5. Doubt it has to do anything with the stage. I think they feel a bit uncomfortable changing things. Things were much better in Europe. Hope SOA can shake things up a bit.

True. How can you play the SAME encore for the ENTIRE TOUR.The one song,Your Blue Room, showed the band taking a chance, has been dropped from the North American tour.Even Elecrical Storm, was played only 3 times on the European leg.WTF???????
    The 2 songs I never thought I would hear live,they played,then dropped.Unreal.

True, but Risto, its the SAME setlist of songs. How can you say it was that much better????
Bad and Pride were both played Chicago night 1.ES and AOH are the only songs played in Europe that were not played at least once here.Your Blue Room was played here, not in Europe.Even Desire was played at one of my shows (09.23.09).Im sure you attended more than one show from this tour, ask yourself this question. How many different songs did the band play at your shows?
There is no reason to see the band more than once on this tour.I hate to say that ,but its true.
2010 had better be different.Talk about playing it safe.Imagine if U2 played 59 different songs in 2 nights like PJ just did in Philadelphia.Imagine.More like a pipedream.
  8. By the time Vertigo was into the second leg and before end it was more varied.

Hopefully 2010 has a bit of a shakeup. Hopefully.
  9. Well it would be hard to coordinate different lighting and sounds if they were to do different songs every night like the Claw needs massive preparation with lights for the songs as it is. I think they will have a newer setlist for 2010 though
  10. I just checked the setlist for the last 4 shows of this leg.Guess what. The four shows were exactly the same.Thats right, not even one or 2 song changes.Thats weak.
  11. All four? That's bad.
  12. I'm not one to bitch per se about the setlist thing but I can't really disagree with anyone; however I have been listening to Pop and other Popmart shows recently and it really is a damn shame that they seem so ashamed of this album and tour. Some of their best songs came from it, maybe if that Pop remaster comes out soon they will play some and hopefully rediscover the songs for themselves because I think they're the only ones who are ashamed of it. Viva Pop, Viva Popmart
