    Erm, clearly you do because you felt the need to call me "wrong" remember? I'm not wrong this is my opinion but if you would like me to further explain why I have come to these conclusions fine.

    Comparing the last 2 previous tours there has been less variation setlist wise between the 1st and 2 leg of this tour than there has been in the past tour. For example, the Veritgo Tour opened with COBL the first 3 nights before on the 4th trying out LAPOE and playing that as the opener for a while before changing back to COBL and also trying Vertigo - 3 different openers in just the 1st leg.

    Variation in the setlist also changed significantly with the order of songs, as well as newly added songs - the beginning, middle and encore of the setlists. They also dished out far more old songs they hadn't played for in years in the First leg more than this tour:

    The Electric Co
    An Cat Dubh
    Into The Heart
    Zoo Station
    Gloria
    The Ocean

    That's 6 songs on rotation that I can think for the first leg of the tour, compared to 360's:

    Ultraviolet
    Unforgettable Fire
    Your Blue Room
    Electrical Storm

    Two of which have been pretty much ditched.

    So by the lack of variation I conclude that yes U2 are being lazy, yes U2 are playing it safe and U2 are on autopilot.

    U2 are always on about looking to the future and being better, well I honestly don't see how this tour so far a part from a big stage set-up is any better than their last tour(s).

    The claw itself is impressive, but it's not enough to carry the band through repetitive setlist choices and autopilot performances. I'm sorry but how is that anything special when for example the previous 6 shows are essentially the same as the present one. Booooring.

    You're quite right with your stats. Vertigo has been more diverse so far. But remember it's only repetitive for U2 geeks like us.

    That's very true but we are also the ones who sign up to their website, buy pretty much every official release including pricey delux editions, and go to multiple shows sometimes even traveling to other countries to see them for the 3rd or 4th time in the same leg. So I think they owe us a slight variation in the set. As much as at least the vertigo tour which I thought had some of the best sets they played.

    You are so right.They also closed a bunch of shows on the first leg with 40.I saw the band 2 times on the first leg,05/17 and 05/18/05..they closed with Bad,the next night 40 and Vertigo.The 3rd leg I saw them 2 more times (10.07 and 10.16.05) and heard Crumbs,Fast Cars,WOWY.Playing arenas, means they kept it more simple.Therefore,it was easy to change the set list.

    Yeah, true that...Pearl Jam can play 59 songs in 2 nights because they don't have a $750,000 light show accompanying their music. That stuff all has to be very strictly followed, this tour...as far as setlists are concerned. It's one of the few cons of the new setup- It's SO big, it doesn't leave too much room for frequent change.


    I agree with you.But,I would rather see a less complex stage (Elevation and Vertigo Tours),and hear a more diverse set list.

    Disagree. So what the setlist is the same every night? The show rocks, the stage is legendary...

    And the setlist is still rather brilliant

    Disagree.The setlist is great..but they play the SAME SONGS each night.The last 4 shows from this tour it was exactly the same songs.Why bother to download a bootleg if its the exact same gig???But anyway,its not about the stage,lights etc..its about the music..I paid alot money for 2 shows at Giants Stadium..I had a great time both nights,but night 2 they played 20 out of 23 songs from the previous show.Pearl Jam just played 2 nights in Philly,night 3 is tonight,they had 2 repeats,59 different songs out of the 61 they performed over 2 nights.I went to both shows 10.27 and 10.28..that was fantastic.I dont need to see a 250 foot claw....I dont need to see a 250 foot screen,or a 50 foot lemon..no gimmicks..just the music..like the tours from the 1980s and Elevation and Vertigo.To quote Bono "I hope you like our spaceship.You all paid for it".That was from the Paris gig,07.12.09.How True.$250 for GA. Thats alot for one ticket.I paid $77 gor GA to see PJ,a bit over $150 for the 2 shows and heard 59 different songs.But my point is if you play the SAME city,you know U2 will have fans,like me,that go BOTH nights.I hate to say it,but its not worth it.Not to see the same gig.And not for $250 a ticket.
  10. To be fair who're they more likely to try and please? The average Joe who has bought a ticket for themselves and friends/family for a good night out in their hometown to see a U2 show.

    Or are the band actually going to be wary that they need to change the setlist because there are a few fans out there who have actually bought tickets to the 5 shows in the nearest vicinity and demand to see some changes each time or else boredom will kick in?

    Then of course they have to be wary about the people who like collecting a hell of a lot of bootlegs and in fact there's someone out there who is going to end up with every bootleg of the U2360 Tour. Of course for these people the setlist MUST be changed for fear of being badmouthed on the internet.

    I wnet to 2 shows on this tour and had the same setlist for both, each was a different experience and each was an experience I thouroughly enjoyed. I couldn't care less that I had the same setlist and I don't care that other shows had other songs. I was happy with what I got. I'm sure all the other other people who went to only 1 or 2 shows were thouroughly entertained as well, regardless of setlist.

    @ EDDMB: I agree that if they're going to play consecutive nights in the same city then some variation is needed. But not if they're going top play a different city each night and to be honest why should they?

    Yes,thats my whole point.The 2 shows I attended at Giants Stadium were very similar.They both opened with Breathe,and from UF on (song 12), the set was exactly the same.Exactly.For $250 a ticket,thats wrong.I want more from this great band.And for that price,I should get it.IMO.
    Also,the band MUST get bored playing the same set,Every night.Bruce,PJ and DMB do different songs EVERY night.So they keep the band fresh and the audience guessing.I guess those bands care more about the diehard fan than U2.Thats a shame.
