    yeah, I was obviously was kidding about the passport thing. I feel like I did Europe, so South America is my next dream, but it's a longshot.

  3. I don't think I have anything to really add to this discussion, at this point. And I'm not trying to bump this thread or add to the post-count, for no reason. I just want to say, paradoxical and futile of an endeavor as it is to discuss the quality of various audiences, for me, this is probably THE most interesting topic on a music forum, and I love reading what you all have to say about it.

    However, an unassailable axiom does seem to have crystallized: South American audiences, followed by Spaniards and Italians, are THE best, period.


    Is it something in their water, or their blood, or the climate, or, as NLOTH_Victor revealed, maybe something more mundane, such as infrastructural obstacles? Whatever it is, they should export it to the rest of the world.

    Also, I love hearing Irish people discuss U2. Their opinions are just weightier on this topic than us outsiders. I know that's a kind of superficial connection to make, since U2 is a phenomenon that transcends all cultures. Nevertheless, no one could claim to be better suited to pass any kind of judgement on the boys than "their tribe".

  5. They were fabulous in Boston and New York, and the audiences in both places were great. I'd probably put Boston a touch ahead of NYC/NJ for this tour, but that's probably because I had seats for the NJ show and the people around me were bucket list/beer people. Boston though, it really went off in a big way. The only thing that took the shine off was the shitty traffic afterwards.

    I didn't mean any concrete shows, I mean that Boston is their second home, and it has been historically. Their "affair" with NYC is much more recent, and more commercially-related, if you know what I mean... Boston is Dublin#2 for them!!

    Yeah, I know And I should have been clearer; what I meant to say was that the mutual admiration society between the Boston crowd and the band was pretty obvious. They looked really happy to be there and having a great time. And they've done some brilliant shows there over the years (which I wish I'd seen live).

    I agree that they love BOTH Boston and NYC.Chicago as well.The bands shows at MSG have always been fantastic.Going back to the UF tour I have seen the band live here.The shows in NYC and Boston always have something more than the other stops at other cities.The last 3 tours (this decade) they have certainly gone out of their way to promote their albums in this city.ATYCLB,the band played the small show at Irving Plaza.For Bomb,the band shot the ABOY video in the NY streets,and did the free concert in Brooklyn.For NLOTH,the band played David Letterman for a week here in NYC,then did a free concert in the Bronx .Bono also lives here.I know the band played 8 nights in NYC for Vertigo,I believe that was the most shows they played in ONE city for the tour.Plus the band have written many songs about this great city,(AOH,New York,Blinding Lights).I actually saw U2 live in Boston,03.17.92.St Patricks Day '92.That is the best show for me,(not including 10.24.01) out of over 30 gigs that I have attended.So,I can not argue.If you want to say Boston,then NYC,ok.But Bono does live HERE.LOL

  12. True but there will almost certainly (shall we say 94%) be, particularly given Larry's comments that they want to finish up the leg in Ireland (although he did mention Belfast). Are there (m)any rumours on a gig in Rotterdam etc?
