1. Breathe, NLOTH, Magnificent and MoS will stay I reckon. Maybe not every night. UC and Boots occasionally.

Magnificent; single, they will keep playing this one
Get On Your Boots; a la All Because Of You..nope
Breathe; it will either go or get rotated
No Line On The Horizon; Stay
Unknown Caller; it will go but become a regular again in South America
Moment Of Surrender: It becomes a single, dont see it going anytime soon.

I love Breathe, though - I think it was a powerful opener. I think much will depend on what SOA is like. When Zooropa came out, only Ultraviolet was dropped from AB. U2 seem to like the new material, they may actually decide to drop only one or two songs from NLOTH. I think they all work pretty well live.

  3. i hope they keep Unknown Caller, but ditch the karaoke, if they ever come down to Aus I want to see them play UC.
  4. That's another problem, when they go to not-visited-yet places... I already said it:

If they play the songs, we will bitch about the lack of changes; if they don't play them, we will bitch because that people haven't experienced them...
  5. UC becomes a rarity like Bad, Moment too (hope they choose a different closer). No Line is a keeper, I hope. Boots is gone. Breathe for the encore, Magnificent will stay.

  6. I agree with the posts about FEZ-Being Born...I'd love to see this either open the encore, or take the same format as the Desmond Tutu video did before "One"...the stage is completely dark, and we get a Kingdom-esque visual with the intro to FEZ, and then the stage lights kick on once the "Being Born" portion starts, and the band takes over.

That was how I wanted to show to open, intiially, but it works much better once the crowd is already immersed in the show.
  7. I'd keep Breathe and Unkown Caller if I were them. Put No Line as the closer. Rotate the rest.

Would anyone else like to see something completely random. Like Miracle Drug? Or Mothers of The Disappeared? Or A Day Without Me? Just for fun?

"No Line" to close? No thank you, I respectfully disagree. That song packs all the punch that the beginning of a live show needs to pump up the crowd. If anything from the opening of the show should be saved til the end, I think it should be "Breathe".

Eh...I like all the songs you mentioned, but they don't really work with the setlist (which we know, most of which will stay the same, if they follow any previous tour trend). I could see "Miracle Drug" taking the place of "Stay", where that usually got rotated. I just don't think it works as well with the stage as ANY of the Pop material, or songs like "The Fly" or EBTTRT.

And if you're going for random, why not "Acrobat"?

Wish ES would get rotated with "Beautiful Day". That would be cool (75% because ES is such a great song, 25% because it would FINALLY boot "Beautiful Day" from the set, haha)

Why not Acrobat? Because I think I may be among the few who have accepted it will never, ever, ever be played live. Shit happens. But I accept that. Whenever I think of a setlist and how it could be improved I'm always think of songs that they could have realistically fit in there.

And being realistic, unless Songs of Ascent comes out, and unless it's distinctly different from NLOTH, there will not be a massive change in the setlists for 2010.

With 22-25 songs played per night I think the band could throw a complete random in every night rather than 'over-playing' the anthems/oldies/etc. Pride is my pet hate but only because it's been over-played. A long, good rest will give it life again I feel. Streets is my no. 1 favourite ever song in the world ever. EVER. But if it was dropped just for one night, the band might miss it and appreciate it a little more to add life to it again.

Can you imagine waiting with baited breath for the random one of the night, even if you weren't at the gig? I've been hooked to U2start on most of the nights the band have played in Europe (if not all) and it's been my first port of call when my tea's been brewing in the morning to find out what they played over the pond.

And I mean absolutely random. Does anyone think they will ever play Kite again? I can't see it, but it was played almost every night for a whole tour! They could throw it in. Same with Sometimes You Can't Make It. And Trip Through Your Wires.

All I'm saying is that when they consider a setlist, and try to balance the new material with the old, they could just put one twentieth of their show for the complete die-hards, couldn't they?

    Please?

    Oooooo! Please would be good!!
