1. i have just listened to WOWY from U2communication, i.e U2 Live In Milan, and i have listened to it a hundred times and love the extension of the song, the long intro, the long instrumental, and the extended ending.

but i started to think, i havent heard of any other cases where they did this with this song.

Has U2 played this extended version of WOWY elsewhere on the tour? or on the 360 tour? if so i would love to hear it for comparisons.

Also have U2 extended any other songs except "Bad"? i would love to hear songs they have extended.

And lastly, whats your thoughts on the extension of WOWY?
apart from Bonos croaky voice of course =p
  2. Pride often got extended.
Who's Gonna Ride... used to have a solo back in Zoo TV days, also did Mysterious Ways until this last tour
In fact they play extended versions of many songs
  3. WOWY had many extensions. Listen to the one on the Paris DVD with the teargass incident.

Other song with extension and extra solo is Kite in 2006 during their gigs in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Also to be added: Streets during Popmart, notice the added outro.

ISHFWILF with the Exodus-snippet. Not really an extension but it might hear like one.
  4. I changed the topic title to make it more clear.

  5. As far as opinions go, I hated that one...seemed sloppy and just completely unessecary.
  6. I think many of us would agree that the "Shine Like Stars" extension to WOWY really "makes" that song. Same goes for the additional "Can You Hear Us Coming..." lyrics at the end of One. These two songs seem incomplete without these endings.

yeh they r both must haves, i also miss the extended outro of vertigo, like in U23D that shit gives me goosebumps. theres a version of desire from janurary 1990 when Edge shreds on the guitar and they snippet 2 songs, thats also very cool
  8. just checked and that really good desire performance is from rotterdam 10th Jan 1990, i highly recomend it.

  9. Especially the early days of the 1st leg of the tour. Probably the best versions too!
  10. One of the greatest is of course Mysterious Ways during ZOO TV

and Bullet The Blue Sky during that same era...

and what about 11 O' Clock Tick Tock during War-era, it was extended for minutes because the girls had to be picked out of the audience, great times....

  11. some interesting extensions:
Starring At The Sun - 25.4.1997 Las Vegas
Beautiful Day and Ground Beneath Her Feet - 19.10.2000 Paris (Manray club)
    11 O'Clock Tick Tock - 15.5.2001 Chicago
    One - 30.6.2009 Barcelona

You're talking about the 18-minute version?

Shine Like Stars makes it all the better. Though the R&H version of WoWY is pretty damned good.
